STATEMENT OF PURPOSE/ RESEARCH PROPOSAL

Academic Backgrounds: On September 20, 2019, I received a phone call from the
University of Education’s examination department, Congratulations Muzammal Hussain! You
have comprehensively passed your university qualification exams, you are graduated now. The
voice was still coming on my ears, you arrived at a better score of 2.80 out of
4.00.Unfortunately, your role in Soccer, Cricket, and Athletics as a Departments’ head player is
abandoned since your alumnus.
Some time ago I worked with the Dr. Khurshid Asghar, Head of the Department of the
Computer Science and IT to accomplish the goal of my final year project. And name of my
final year project is “Find My Bus “An Android app we XML to make front end which consist
of two panel one for admin and second is for employee. Where admin can easily find employee
where they are working by longitude and latitude with mobile GPS.All the back end code is
with java and integration with Google maps APIS.Now most of the members were applauding
for me after the presentation on FIND MY BUS. That moment I was thinking about the result, I
was very happy when the committee assigned me A grade in relation to the project.
The motivation for Project & Master’s Degree: One day when I was sitting in the
professor’s room, he told me about the vast uses of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the present
age. I returned to the home, and I started the search for AI on the internet I found a book,
“Singularity is Near” by Ray Kurzweil.
Ray defined 6 Epochs in that book, Epoch 4 is about technology; we are living in now, but we
are near at the end of it, soon, entering the Epoch 5 where biology and technology will begin to
merge to create better life and intelligence. Mr. Ray signalizes in his book, in the aloof future,
we will able to have artificial arms, knees, heart and well-nigh any other part of the body, palsy
of spinal harms could be defeated by using particularized electronics that would grant
paraplegics to recover control over their muscles.
Ray’s thoughts are exciting to think about, like for all fields of science: mathematics is used,
soon, I envision computer science being used as a tool. It is always necessary to have some
understanding of specific domains of mathematics for chemists, physicists, and biologists to
convey their ideas, to write down formulas and to make foretelling. Likewise, soon, to create
new breakthroughs computer software will become inbuilt part of the research. It has always a
difficult task to find different patterns in numerous datasets. Nevertheless, by using state-of-
the- art software of data mining, machine learning, hidden trends, and patterns may emerge that
can help increase understanding and solve problems. I feel excited about the Epoch 5 where
human intelligence and technology merging to create an age of AI. I want to contribute to that
age of evaluation; my journey is started after doing a project in that field.
Study & Future Plan: I am extremely interested in pursuing my Master’s degree in
Software Engineering/ Software Engineering (with research/ projects emphasis on Image
processing/ Artificial Intelligence) from Soongsil University (South Korea) because of previous
knowledge, motivation and relevant field of study. After spending a lot of time of choosing my
particular research direction, I have decided to focus my future studies on Machine Learning
(ML), and going deep into ML my plan is to conduct my master research on Artificial Neural
Networks (ANN); I am very affected and motivated by its application of Pattern Recognition
(PR) after doing a project on the domain of Recognition.
After Masters, my aim is to go deeper into Artificial Intelligence and to do a Ph.D. in Artificial
Intelligence(AI); field of Computer Science. I know that according to most of Chinese
Universities, I have complete Master’s program first and then apply again for the Ph.D. in AI if
I fulfil the rules and regulations of the institutions. So, I am applying for the same and I believe
that this Master’s program would polish my skills more and would enable me to get start Ph.D.
accordingly. Korea is education friendly country and promoting higher education in every
possible manner without discrimination of race, gender, and religion. It has one of World’s
most comprehensive quality education systems.
After completing my studies, I will come back to my country, because Pakistan is in a
desperate need for foreign qualified persons and their skills for its development, I trust that I
will ready to participate in expanding my nation's innovative research in such field to profit the
economy and work for the enhancing the expectations for everyday comforts of citizens of my
country. I hope that I can gain more experience in dealing with situations, peoples, systems,
and demands which will be of a great help in my future career.
Reasons to Study in Chinese University: After making a strong decision about the field
of study, I plan to study within Asia, a friend of mine told me about the opportunities in China
and Singapore but at the last he said; huge opportunities are also available in South Korea (SK).
I felt like the country I knew the least about, it was unknown to me. So, spending days in the
search for , I came to final conclusions about this country, if you don’t know the people of SK
very well they seem introverted but once you get to know them better than it will totally
different case, you will notice they are happy to meet new people, always want to do activities
together, eat lunch, eat dinner etc. SK has a beautiful landscape, mixed countryside, and urban
city. Moreover, I observed that students in Korea study like crazy and Korea have highly
ranked universities.
After such kinds of positives, I am very certain to be part of a Chinese University. The main
reason for choosing this university is the ongoing research in the field of my interest and I liked
the approach this university takes to complete that research, the presence of distinguished
faculty and stimulating academic environment. With my motivation and capacity for research
and enthusiasm, I am optimistic about obtaining an assistantship from the department.
