STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you. Ever since I realized
the meaning of this phrase, I started on a crusade for attaining wisdom. At the age of 16, during a
visit to the company Infosys - a technological giant, my passion for engineering discovered its
nativity. I examined and investigated every conceivable aspect of this gigantic industry and was
provided with expansive knowledge and enriching experience. I was absolutely fascinated and
extremely astounded, when I meticulously scrutinized the methodology implemented for all the
process carried out. It all seemed to be a fairy-tale at that age. Though a simple, provincial boy, I
was persuaded that one day I too would become an aspirant professional in the field of computer
science and contribute my share to the society.

Any tree would stand strong only with the support of its deep clenching roots, which figuratively
relates to my early education in Kendriya Vidyalaya where my entire schooling was an
enlightening experience gifted with exposure and confidence along with morals for life. It is the
place where the roots for my career were established, enhancing innovative ideas in me. The
field of computer science intrigued me from since when I was in school. During a computer
class, I was exposed to some of the challenging problems in the subject, which required logical,
rational and analytical thinking. This use and recognition of such skills helped me to discern
what I wanted with my life ultimately. I was also fascinated with computers when I realized how
computer being such a small system can astonishingly alter and enhance things with handful of
commands. This captivation towards computer and its related areas made me opt Computer
Science as my graduate course.

The boundless possibilities and astonishing innovations were one of the most appealing and
stimulating aspects that made me choose Engineering as my field of study. I enrolled for
Computer Science Engineering in Rajalakshmi Engineering College affiliated to the Anna
University – Chennai.The extensive syllabus of the course has helped me to acquire knowledge
regarding the core subjects and other technical requirements for the current generation.

In the final year, we a team of three members worked together on a project named “Sentiment
Analysis Using Supervised Machine Learning Algorithms for Mobile Reviews”. These
comprehensive efforts were aptly rewarded when my project won second place in a competition
and was appreciated by the faculty members of my college. Working on this project helped me to
acquire knowledge and attain novel ideas that can be put in designs of future projects.

From my early stages of growing up, I have always been specific about what I want and I find
myself being systematic and organized with my work. Apart from the curriculum, I have
interests in music, art and reading novels which inculcates creativity and lateral thoughts in me.
On the other hand, I also indulge myself in different sports like cricket and baseball which helps
me to stay fit. I have represented Chennai at a school-level cricket tournament in the year 2013. I
have captained my school team and have won various tournaments. I feel confident about my
managerial skills and the efficiency to work with people.

After a good deal of self-evaluation, which revealed an extensive interest in computer science, I
have decided to pursue my post graduate studies in computer science which is my ultimate
professional ambition. I am quite confident that the MS degree would not only satisfy my
eagerness to learn new things, it would also help me invent new ideas which will be beneficial
for the future. This is what I would offer to the university – a hardworking, enthusiastic, graduate
student, who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

In order to reach perfection at its peak, it is of utmost necessity that I consider studying in
__________ University with its rewarding academic programs, excellent laboratory facilities,
and highly suitable environment for learning. My objective of pursuing MS in Computer Science
is to acquire an in-depth competence and hone my skills in this field. Ten years down the line, I
envision myself in the technology sector and I would like to be able to apply what I learnt to this
ever evolving world and contribute towards its development. I find that your esteemed institution
with its world renowned high-tech facilities will be an ideal and right place for my post graduate
studies. I would like to say in conclusion that the essence of University education lies in the
synergetic relationship between the department and its students. I think the study experience at
your University would help me best with my academic pursuits and will be a major step towards
achieving my goals and thrive for more. I wait for your benevolent acceptance of my application
