Adverb

So, the adverb can be defined by nouns, works and adjectives. It's usually used to clarify the preceding
word or clarify the adverb itself

Usually the adverb has -ly endings like: clearly, quickly, promptly, and so on.

But, there are some who don't use the end-ly end.

2. Kinds of adverbs

# adverb of time

Is an adverb used to give additional information about time.

This adverb of time is used to answer all questions that begin with "when.

Example of sentences:

I rarely go to the movie theater since the ticke price went up.

I can finish all of my taks and go home early.

# adverb of manner

Is an adverb that provides additional information about the condition or how an event occurred.
Is an adverb that provides additional information about the condition or how an event occurred

This adverb of manner is used to answer the question of "how."

This adverb includes (badly, beautifully, better, cheerfully, fast, hand, quickly, slowly, inadequately,
healthy, well, etc.)

# Adverb of place

Is an adverb that gives an answer to a place or a question

examples of words from this adverb are (above, away, below, down, here, inside, near, outside, there,
up, etc.)

example sentences:

Put that jar above the cupboard along with the other empty jars.

I'm not allowed to play outside the house after 6 PM.

# Adverb of frequency

If at the adverb of degree is used to describe an intensity, the adverb of variant is used to account for
the frequency of activity by the individual

example sentences:
Dad usually doesn't drink alcohol, but occasionally he does.

I rarely participate in family occasions because i don't have any peers i can talk to.

Usually this adverb is used to answer the question "how much.

But it's not always the question to ask as much as looks, but it can be used to question the intensity of
an event

She looks extremely tried after cleaning the whole house.

Mom told me she missed my brother too.

# Exclamatory adverb

Exclamatory adverb is an adverb used in exclaiming. Pattern:

How + adjective / adverb + S V!

Example:

You are "funny" = how funny you are!


He becomes "angry" = how angry he becomes!

She danced "beautifully" = how beautifully she danced!

The man behaves "badly" = how badly the man behaves!

# Explanatory adverb

Explanatory adverb is an adverb that is used to explain something similar or to detail something.

Members: e.g. (exempli gratia), for example, for instances like: such as, like, as that is, namely: i.e. (id
est), viz. (videolicet), namely

Example: There are many interesting places to visit in the city, "e.g.", the botanical garden and the art
museum.

I prefer to wear casual clothes, "such as" jeans and a sweatshirt.

Mark knows a few people here, "viz.", Mr. Martin, Mrs. Mary, and Robert.

Apart from adverb functions, there are different types.


# interrogative adverb

An adverb can also be a question word, like how, when, why, and where.(5W+1H)

example of sentences:

why are you here?

when is it going to stop?

# conjunctive adverb

This adverb works for transition word combining clauses indeperer

This adverb includes words like(accordingly, also, alternatively, certainly, consequently, finally,
nevertheless, moreover, previously, therefore, etc.)

example of sentences:

I can't leave the house today, therefore i delegate the meeting to the vice president

.4. PURPOSE OF ADVERBS IN WRITING

Adverbs are like the seasoning in sentences. *They help describe how things appear and how things
happen.* they help a reader visualize an action with an Appropriate level of intensitas. Adverbs help
control what others see when you speak or write.

The position of the adverb is a sentence that follows the following conditions:

1. "Place and Direction + Frequency + Time"

I Have been "to London several times this year."

2. "Manner + Place + Time"

Arifah studies "seriously at school everyday."

3. "Auxiliary 1 + Adverb + (Auxiliary 2, Auxiliary) + Ordinary "

I have "almost" finished working.

6. adverb function

apart from those mentioned in the types of adverbs above, other adverb functions in English are as
follows:

1. "Emphasis (emphasis)"

"Only" you come here.

2. "Negation"

She does "not" look at us.

3. "Conjunctive adverb"
