Pratama from class X IPS 2 number 7. Today, I will give a speech about solution to stop
COVID-19. But before that, I hope Ma’am Maria and friends are in good condition so you guys
can hear and see my speech clearly.

Intoduction : Good afternoon Ma'am Maria and friends, my name is Dominico Kurnia Sakti
Pratama from class X IPS 2 number 7. Today, I will give a speech about solution to stop
COVID-19. But before that, I hope Ma’am Maria and friends are in good condition so you guys
can hear and see my speech clearly. The coronavirus pandemic has triggered the implementation
of various measures that have never been done before in the world. From Spain to the United
States (US), various countries are trying to reduce the spread of the virus. In addition to reducing
international travel, a number of countries are also trying to limit movement at their borders and
advocate reducing social contact in public places. Health and human rights policy experts warn
that countries must try to balance protecting public health with not violating personal freedoms.
So, how can we stop the spreading of this pandemic virus ? Lockdown is one of many solutions
to stop the spread of this pandemic virus. Lockdown has succeeded in reducing the spread of the
COVID-19 virus in various countries.

The COVID-19 outbreak is spreading very fast every day and more than 4 million people
have been actively infected by this virus so COVID-19 restrictions are applied in almost all areas
of life. The most basic measure to reduce the spread of coronavirus or to prevent infection is to
follow hygiene rules. The most important of these is washing hands and use disinfectant often.
For this reason, the spread of this virus is slower in societies that have the habit of washing hands
and pay attention to the general hygiene rules. There is a high level of participation in the "stay at
home" call by official institutions. Scientists warn that the COVID-19 virus can reach any age
group quickly .

1st Reason : The goal of lockdown, according to a recent study from the COVID-19 pandemic
response team at Imperial College London, is to reduce the Reproductive (R) of the virus. It
could also be said that this measure is to reduce the number of people infected by each confirmed
case. Reducing the reproduction of the virus also means setting the "R" below one (R<1),
keeping the average transmission rate for each case below one person. As stated by the study
authors, there are two ways to get an R<1 result, namely, mitigation and suppression. Mitigation
aims to protect those most at risk of severe disease from coronavirus infection. This is done by
isolating suspected cases (in our language they call it ODP or "Insider Monitoring"), and keeping
the elderly and people at high risk of serious illness away. For the suppression, the lockdown
aims to reverse the growth of the epidemic, reduce the number of cases to the lowest level, by
distancing the entire population ( social distancing ) indefinitely or at least until a vaccine is
found.

2nd Reason : However, the definition of lockdown is still not very clear and has not been agreed
globally. The implementation of lockdown in each country or region has a different method or
protocol. For example, in Wuhan, China, a lockdown was totally implemented. During the
lockdown, all residents in the city are prohibited from leaving their homes and all public areas,
such as malls and markets, are closed. Meanwhile in Spain and Italy, the policies of lockdown
there still allow citizens to go out of their homes to shop for daily necessities and buy medicines.
On January 23, 2020, the Chinese government implemented a lockdown in 20 provinces. One of
them is Hubei province with Wuhan as its capital. About 2 months after the lockdown was
imposed, China's National Health Commission announced that there were no reports of new
COVID-19 cases in the province. The news shows that the lockdown seems effective in
suppressing the spread of the virus. However, if you look at the conditions in other countries that
have also implemented a lockdown, the effectiveness of the lockdown still needs to be studied
further. On the other hand, the implementation of isolation for PUM, national lockdown, and
social distancing by the entire population will reduce two-thirds of PUM candidates (Patients
Under Monitoring) and reduce the number of deaths due to COVID-19. This step will also bring
us closer to the goal of R<1. at least three weeks after the intervention is implemented, the
number of new patients will not increase.

3rd Reason : Approximately 214 countries reported the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Countries have taken very strict restrictions such as vacation for schools, working from home,
quarantine for regions with high number of cases, and most importantly, lockdown to slow down
the COVID 19 outbreak. The lockdown days differ by country. Countries have set the days when
the lockdown started and ended according to the COVID-19 effect on their public. Some
countries have extended the lockdown by many days due to COVID-19 continuing its influence
intensely on the public. The lockdown of tens of millions of people, unprecedented in recent
times, was seen as a "huge experiment" with good results. After the lockdown, the spread of
cases began to slow. On March 19, 2020, China's National Health Commission reported that
there were no more confirmed new infections in Hubei. Meanwhile, according to data from
WHO, in a scenario without lockdowns and social distancing, 81 percent of the population in the
UK and US would be infected, with 510,000 people dying in the UK and 2.2 million people
dying in the US.

Conclusion:

So, as a final word from me, lockdown should be implemented in every country to stop the
spread of COVID-19. Death rate of country who doesn`t implemented lockdown is higher. So,
we can conclude that Lockdown is the most effective way to stop the spread of COVID-19. In
various countries that have implemented lockdowns, there has been a decrease in the number of
COVID-19 cases. Even though the death rate has not decreased significantly, if the model of
lockdown is correct, hypothetically and in reality, then the end is near. That’s all from me. I hope
