ISLAMIC ARTS MUSEUM MALAYSIA GROUP VISIT GUIDELINES

Dear Lecturers,

Welcome to the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia! Here we provide you with important guidelines for you and your students during
your visit at the Museum. These simple guidelines will help you to understand some basic rules while at the premise and ensure
the safety of your students.
Enjoy the visit!

Here are some tips and policies to help you make the most of your visit.

1. Lecturers should take full responsibility for the safety of their students while at the museum. Students should be
supervised by their lecturers at all times during the visit.

2. In the interest of the students’ safety, wellbeing and security, they must not:
a. run in the galleries, particularly along the ramp.
b. touch the artefacts and display cases.
c. climb on or lean against any part of the Museum’s structure especially the glass walls and partitions.

3. Except where indicated by notices, non-flash photography is permitted solely for private and non-commercial purposes
only. Tripods and monopods/selfie sticks are not permitted in any part of the Museum.

4. Large groups of students are encouraged to use the stairs and ramps instead of elevators to when moving to different
levels within the Museum, accompanied by lecturers.

5. At times, the Museum can be very crowded. Even soft voices may echo through the galleries and can disturb the tranquil
atmosphere. Please be considerate of other visitors in the Museum.

6. Students are welcome to conduct their activities in the galleries. Dry writing/drawing materials such as graphite, coloured
pencil, crayon or pen are permitted in the galleries. Meanwhile, wet materials such as bottled ink, water colours, acrylic
and oil paints are restricted to the Wet Workshop.

7. Visitors are not allowed to consume food and drinks in the Museum except in the Museum Restaurant and Café. Outside
food is not permitted.

8. Visitors are asked not to litter. Rubbish bins can be found at the lobby and nearby elevators should you wish to dispose of
anything.

9. While shopping for books and souvenirs in the Museum Shop, visitors are asked to be extra careful. Some of the
merchandise are fragile.

10. The Museum is a smoke-free environment. Visitors may smoke outside the Museum compound.

11. The Museum is equipped with surveillance cameras. The Security personnel do patrol during the opening hours to
maintain security of the Museum. So do not be alarmed if you are ever stopped by one, just produce your ticket for proof
on entry fee.

12. Lastly, feel free to ask for help from the Museum staffs on duty; the Security personnel, Customer Service officers as
well as your tour guides. They are more than happy to extend their assistance. Do enquire about any ongoing activities
and current temporary exhibitions that might interest you. Given fair notice, our tour guides might even be able to
customize a tour for you according to your area of interest.
