Who should be fired?

UEH International Company decide to downsize the company and has to fire some
employees. In the Human Resource Department, two employees should be fired among
the following:

• Ms. Anna: 27-year-old, BA degree in Business Administration, 4 year working


experience in UEH, currently in charge of labor norm/ output quota. In the last
3 years, she has been rated as excellent performance worker; however, recently
in 4 months, she has been applied for sick leaves 9 times.
• Mr. Peter: 25-year-old, 3.5 year working experience in UEH, currently in charge
of employee salary. Obtained the vocational certificate in employee salary,
planning to get married next week. His fiancée has a fabric shop in An Dong
market, high income, own house. Mr. Peter has set up a new salary system for
UEH, successfully motivate employees to engage in working.
• Mr. Paul: 56-year-old, deputy head of the department, in charge of recruitment
and solving complaints, employment contract, obtain the part-time BA degree 5
years ago, worked for UEH for 25 years, started from a clerk and gradually get
promoted. He doesn’t want early retired; his wife is constantly sick and all of his
3 daughters graduated from BA degree.
• Mr. Shane: 45-year-old, graduated from Eastern Europe in Labor Economics,
previously a lecturer teaching in universities, now in charge of training and
development, 6 years working as a deputy head until now. His performance is
unstable: if something he likes, he works quite well; when he doesn’t like, his
work performance is average.
• Ms. Tracy: 22-year-old, graduated vocational degree in Pedagogy, in charge of
employee relations, talent in signing, can organise outdoor activities, daughter
of the Vice Chairman of People’s Committee in District, working performance
is average.
