Direct current (DC) motor plays an important role in industries to
convert energy from electrical to mechanical. The speed of the
DC motor is important in the process control industries so we
have to control the speed of the DC motor. For this speed control,
proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers are used. For
better performance and optimum parameters, PID tuning is used.
Traditional tuning techniques for classical PID controllers suffer
from many disadvantages like non-customized performance
measures and insufficient process information.
In this project, we are using the in-built optimization features of
MATLAB to optimize the speed control and time response of the
system. Experimental results are presented to study the

The state-space approach is a generalized time-domain method for modeling,
analyzing, and designing a wide range of control systems. The approach can deal
with multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems, or multivariable systems,
non-linear and time-variant systems, and alternative controller design
approaches. In Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) Systems, it may be difficult
to analyse the system by Transfer function method. And the analysis of MIMO
systems can be easily done by state-space method. Also, State space analysis gives
information about controllability. Hence we will be using State Space methods for

approach is presented. The method is used to determine the characteristics of PV
module in various conditions especially in different level of irradiations and
temperature. By having different values of irradiations and temperature, the results
showed the output power, voltage and current of PV module can be determined. In
addition, all results from Matlab Simulink are verified with theoretical calculation. This
proposed model helps in better understanding of PV module characteristics in
