“ I saw the fall of the Philippines”

Col. Romulo, who was in charge of the press and radio during General MacArthur's siege of the
Philippines and is now his aide de camp, tells his version of the tragedy of Corregidor and Bataan and
the lads who ""were trapped like rats yet died like men"". When Manila was declared an open city,
Romulo joined MacArthur on Corregidor and broadcast his ""Voice of Freedom"" radio station to the
troops on the front lines from there. He visited the ""fox holes of Bataan"" frequently to deliver news,
encouragement, and hope, and he witnessed the horrors they faced from hunger, gangrene, malaria,
and dysentery.

battle of the Philippines from its last thrilling escape of the plane in Bataan to the last plane in
Mindanao . This book shows how he voice out for the freedom of the Philippines through
broadcasting in the radio and deliver through news papers, this book build a sense of nationalism for
the author wrote and shows encouragement and hope for his country and share the suffering he’d
been through during the war.
