review center branches outside the nursing institutions.

Market Research

Industry

With the high percentage of demand for nurses in the year 2003, several nursing schools
and nursing review centers were established. Some review centers gained prestige and were
able to establish name in this area of entrepreneurship. This is consistent with the increased in
nursing numbers to 4.7 million between 2013 and 2018 (Zizhuo, 2020). However, with the
declining number of students enrolling in the nursing profession, review centers for the PNLE
gradually closed. Only those who have established a niche and have proven outstanding record
of accomplishment on passing percentage remain in operation.

The Covid 19 pandemic is a revelation to all national public safety and security sectors
presenting the inadequacy of healthcare workers in the country. In this regard, several
programs and policies were designed and implemented in order to address this issue. On July
2020, Philippine Senators welcomed the government’s decision to finally implement Section
32 of the Philippine Nursing Act of 2002, which seeks to raise the monthly base pay of
government nurses (Torregoza 2020).Furthermore, several plantillas and job opportunities
were opened for Filipino nurses both locally and abroad.

In view of the foregoing and pursuant to the increasing demand of nurses, establishment
of Nursing Review Centers will be of same high demand. It is therefore viewed that such
business venture will be of success once it is launched.

Detailed Description of Customers

The target clients of RN CARES Review Center are those nursing graduates from
both private and public nursing institutions. There are approximately 317 nursing schools
in the Philippines (Cruz, 2019). According to Medical Information Research Information
Center Global (MRICG), the country has an annual production of about 38,000 nurses (Adrian,
2020). With this high number of schools producing nursing graduates, RN CARES Review Center
aims to get at least 5%-8% of the country’s nursing schools and/ or at least 2% of the total
number of nursing graduates.

In order to fulfill this goal, RN CARES will expand its branches in regions with identified
large number of nursing graduates. Establishment and/ or intensification of partnership with
nursing schools will also be put into great account.

SUMMARY OF VALUE PROPOSITION AND CANVASS

In order to succeed with this entrepreneurial endeavor of starting a Review Center

business, it is imperative to understand the needs of potential/ target clients. Thus, a customer
profile describing the job-to-be done their gains as well as their pains should be taken into great
account. These data serve as the basis for services that will be offered and the extent to which
these services will be delivered. The key is to have congruency with the needs and services/
products in order to attain sustainability.

The job-to-be-done is to pass the Nursing Licensure Examination. This can be achieved
through active involvement in the learning process. Since the learning process is arduous and
comprehensive, it is essential that the client should also collaborate with others, participate
with group discussion, be able to manage academic life, practice answering exam questions,
and keep self-abreast with learning technology.

In attaining such goal, intricacy in the process is unavoidable. Hence, pains can be
encountered such as:

a) difficulty in coping with technology especially those who are not computer savvy;

b) large amount of time spent for learning depriving time for other activities;

c) reluctance to share information during discussion limiting interaction and exchange of

knowledge;

d) poor internet connection causing difficulty in accessing online instruction; and

e) difficulty-tracking dates for performance tasks, which can lead to poor performance rating.

Looking at a broader perspective of optimism, gains can also be achieved in the process
once properly addressed by gain creators on the other side of the canvas. These include
flexibility in meeting learning demands; holistic preparedness; increase in social capital; easy
access to learning materials; and self-mastery.

With the enumerated pains above, pain relievers should be properly designed and
planned by the company in order to eliminate any doubts and negative feedback/ perceptions
from the clients. On this proposed entrepreneurial endeavor, pain relievers include issuance of
gantt chart and academic schedule for time management and to avoid difficulty-tracking dates
of performance tasks; self-paced learning activities to avoid pressure from slow/ poor internet
connection that is needed for live or synchronous discussions; proper orientation on the
Learning Management System to assist those who have difficulty coping with technology; and
academic discussion confidentiality agreement to lessen if not totally eliminate clients’
reluctance to share information during discussion.

The key services and features that can be offered by the Review Center include social
features for exchange of ideas; assignment calendar; efficient learning management system;
and online learning materials that are readily available and accessible for continuous learning.
This activity brought cognizance with the various opportunities that can be considered
in a nursing profession. It enables full appreciation with the things that can be explored and
undertake by nurses with their flexibility, resourcefulness and competence. It made me realized
that nurses can consider multidimensional areas of practice and not just limited to the clinical
setting. Nurses can be creative in taking part with the advancement and enhancement of the
nursing profession through innovative and quality education, committed service at any setting,
and/ or entrepreneurial ventures that continuously generate development.

Indeed, nursing competencies are reflections of various dynamic abilities that can be
utilized in any personal and professional endeavors. Application of such competencies can be
very relevant in any areas such as but not limited to healthcare, education, training, community
involvement, information technology and entrepreneurship among others.

Nurses can be entrepreneurs with the “end in mind” (Brown, 2019) of improving the
nursing profession while generating additional economic gains.
