Statement of Teaching Philosophy

The purpose of a Teaching Philosophy statement is to explain how they would like to
teach and assess the students in order to get them the right material. In my teaching philosophy
statement, I want to include everything possible to help the children learn everything they can
and retain the important information to live a healthy lifestyle.
I want to include everyone in every activity or game we play. Leading to more
enthusiastic children, more understanding children, and for children to feel like they belong in
that class with everyone else, no matter their athletic abilities or strengths. I want to promote a
teaching environment where every student feels safe, educated about the material, and to feel
heard. The students have a right to these as school is like a second home to most of them as they
spend 7+ hours there a day and may have extracurriculars to do in the morning and/or after
school. While there, they should be able to feel comfortable with the teachers and in the
environment with the other students. If the students see this behavior modeled by their teachers,
then, they will do the same for their peers as you don’t know what everyone is going through
outside of school.
For teaching Physical Education, it is about passing knowledge down so they can
maintain a physically active life. My job as a Physical Educator is to assist these students with
my experiences in sports and teach fundamentally age-appropriate activities for my students; to
pass down the passion I have learnt for my students to live full healthy and active lifestyles.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle has several benefits, from personal connections to being able to
take care of yourself, your children, spouse, or anyone else close to you. Creating motivation to
adapt into their own ideas and thoughts to put into their own lives.
Included in my philosophy is considering different theories and pedagogies into my
teaching. This way, there is an aspect of the teaching at the hands of every learner in the
environment. This gives the opportunity to let the students know what works for them and for the
evaluator (myself) to understand what works for each and every student and finding ways to
include all of them. I want to make sure they feel motivated every day to complete whichever
task they may have set for themselves that day and to make themselves successful in their daily
lives. While including different theories into my teachings, it means every class will be unique
and different in their own ways. Creating different templates for each type of class to follow as
they will all be different.
The purpose of my teachings is to inspire these children into coming physically active
and healthy adults who maintain a healthy lifestyle. This is my goal that I aspire to achieve each
and every year of teaching for every student who walks into my gymnasium.
