CIRCUAR FLAT SPIRAL EARRINGS (4 colours)

By Peggy Stirling, April 2020

MATERIALS:
11/0 seed beads (4 colours)
6 or 8lb Fireline
1” French wire (optional)
2 ear wires

In order to maintain the right colour bead on your needle, keep in mind that you always pick up
the same colour bead as the colour your needle/thread is currently exiting.

Round 1:
• Pick up 4 seed beads – (one of each of the four colours)
• Pass through all 4 beads again and tie a knot. Pass through the closest seed bead on the
left or right.

Round 2:
• Pick up one seed bead, the same colour as the bead your needle/thread is exiting. Pass
into the next bead if round 1.
• Pick up the second colour and continue in this manner all the way around the original 4
base round beads. Step up to the first bead you added in this round.

Round 3:
• This round you will need to pick up 2 seed beads to pass through the next bead from the
previous round. You will have a total of 8 beads (4 doubles). At the end of this round
step up through the first bead of the first pair of doubles from this round.

Round 4:
• This round you will add 8 single beads. You will be adding a single bead between the
doubles and another single bead after the second bead of the double. Step up at the
end of the round.
Round 5:
• In this round you will pick up a pair of beads(doubles), pass through the next bead, then
a single bead and pass through the next bead in line. Sequence is 2 beads, then one
bead, all the way around. Step up at the end of the round.

Round 6:
• This round will be all single beads for a total of 12 beads (3 of each colour) in the round.
Step up at the end of the round.

Round 7:
• This round is a repeat of round 5. Start with a pair of doubles and then a single.
Continue around with the doubles and singles, regardless of which colour you are
picking up. Note that each colour group may not all look the same. Some will have
double, single and double, while the next colour might have single, double and single.
Don’t let this throw you off. Just keep in mind that the colour bead or beads you pick up
next will be the same as the one you are exiting. Step up.

Round 8:
• This round will have all single beads. Two of your colours will have 5 beads per colour,
and the other two colours will only have 4 beads. Step up.

Round 9:
• Repeat round 8. Tie off the round without cutting your thread. Pick a bead to add your
loop for the ear wire.

Finishing:
• If you are not using French wire then exit one of the beads on the outside round. Add a
circle of 6x11/0 seed beads or 8x15/0 seed beads. Reinforce and tie off, cut thread and
add ear wire.
• If you are using French wire, cut a length ½”. Pass through one of the beads on the
outside edge of last round. Pass the needle through the bead, then slide the French wire
piece on the needle. Keep the thread loose as you pass the needle through the bead
again, once more through the French wire, and finally through the bead. Carefully pull
the thread tight to close up the circle of wire to form the loop to add your ear wire.
Weave your tail ends through the piece, tie off and cut. Add ear wires.
