Atomic &nuclear structure

Atoms cannot be broken into smaller particles without losing their

.chemical properties
All the matter around you is made of atoms, and all atoms are
:made of only three types of subatomic particle

.Protons: Protons each have a positive charge

.Electrons: Electrons have a unit negative charge

.Neutrons:  Neutrons do not have any charge

Even more amazing is the shape of the atoms with the three
subatomic particles. The neutrons and protons are in the center of
the atom in a nucleus. The electrons are outside the nucleus in
electron shells that are in different shapes at different distances
.from the nucleus. The atom is mostly empty space
Ernest Rutherford shot subatomic particles at a very thin piece of
gold. Most of the particles went straight through the gold. It was
like shooting a rifle into a thin line of trees. Some of the particles
bounced off, some stuck inside, but the major portion of them
 .passed through the gold foil

ATOMIC WEIGHTS AND ATOMIC NUMBERS

The atomic number is the number of protons in the nucleus of each
 .atom
the number of protons plus the average number of neutrons in that
.element. The number is called the atomic weight or atomic mass

Radioactive decay

Radioactive rot is the unconstrained breakdown of a nuclear core

.bringing about the arrival of energy and matter from the core
Recollect that a radioisotope has precarious cores that needs more
.restricting energy to hold the core together
Radioisotopes might want to be steady isotopes so they are
.continually changing to attempt to balance out
Simultaneously, they will deliver energy and matter from their core
.and regularly change into another component
This cycle, called change, is the difference in one component into
.another because of changes inside the core
The radioactive rot and change cycle will proceed until another
component is framed that has a steady core and isn't radioactive.
.Change can happen normally or by fake methods
