Activity 1. Assess Yourself

The Filipino Core Values: ASSESS YOURSELF! 

Directions: Analyze the following statements below. Put a check before each indicator/manifestation if
the statement applies to you. 

1. MAKA-DIYOS

 Engages oneself in worthwhile spiritual activities

Member of any religious groups that is organized in the school

 Prepares a prayer well when assigned to lead.

 Actively participates in any religious or spiritual activities held in school

 Uses any things in the school including religious symbols properly

   2. MAKA-TAO

 Upholds and respects the dignity and equality of all including those with special needs

 Recognizes and respects people from different economic, social and cultural backgrounds
 Helps or assists classmates on their missed activities/assignments and helps teachers without
being asked

 Avoids name calling to his peers especially those who are physically challenged

 Recognizes and accepts the contribution of others toward a goal

              3. MAKA- BAYAN

 Identifies oneself as a Filipino

 Respects the flag and the national anthem

 Promotes the appreciation and enhancement of Filipino languages

 Abides by the rules of the school, community, and country

 Enables others to develop interest and pride in being a Filipino

              4. MAKA-KALIKASAN

 Joins in the annual clean and green program of the school

 Follow signage/rules posted around the environment like “No Picking of   Flowers”.

 Follows the waste segregation program

 Practices the concept of “clean as you go”.

 Keeps one’s work neat and clean


Activity 2. Ask and Tell

ASK AND TELL! 

Directions: Interview a friend and be guided with the following questions below. Summarize the answers
and write them on the space provided.

1. As a Filipino, what is your perspective about being:

A. Maka-Diyos

- As a Filipino my perspective about being maka-diyos is someone who loved god


of all gods, because if you love him you will follow his commandments and obey
it. And also, we have fear to him, fear to have a sin with his law, love him and
people around you and respect him.

B. Maka-Tao

- As a Filipino my perspective about being maka-tao is we should respect and love


the other, showing kindness to the other people are the characteristics of being
maka-tao.

C. Maka-Bayan
- As a Filipino my perspective about maka-bayan is showing love for our country
and its countrymen, by protecting our country by following the rules and
regulation and be a good member to our country.

d. Maka-Kalikasan
- My perspective about being maka-kalikasan is showing love and care of someone
for the environment, takes a good care of the nature by maintaining the
cleanliness and not to destroy it and also taking care of our mother earth.

2. As a student, why is it important to practice these core values?

- Core values plays a huge role in life especially in everyday life, It helps us to
grow and develop, As a student I will constantly carry these basic values in my
life such as Maka-diyos, maka-tao, maka-kalikasan at maka-bayan, Reminding
myself that I am Filipino and that I must act as a role model and a responsible
citizen of my country, It will also help me to be a good person.
