If you are a problem solver and critical thinker, have good physical health, and want to work
with those who are physically, developmentally and/or emotionally challenged, a career as an
Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA/PTA) is for you. Upon
graduation, you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of environments such as:
As an OTA/PTA, you’ll help people who require assistance returning to the activities of daily
life and regular work after an accident, mental or physical illness, or due to developmental
challenges or chronic health issues. A compulsory work placement will provide you with the
hands-on skills and real-world experience you need to embark on this meaningful career.
Practise your skills and acquire hands-on experience during over 600 hours (16 weeks) of
unpaid work placements. These placements are arranged by the program fieldwork
placement advisor during Semester 2, Semester 3 and Semester 4.
You will have the opportunity to be exposed to leading-edge therapeutic skills, equipment and
health-care facilities. This program offers the privilege of participating in clinical placements
in occupational therapy and physiotherapy at some of the top teaching hospitals in Canada.

Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet all the requirements below in order to meet minimum
program eligibility. Meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee
an offer of admission. Admission decisions will be available via MyHumber, or by
email and mail. Admission decisions will not be released by phone.

Post-Admission Requirements
Once you have been accepted, and have confirmed your offer, you may need to
complete a further set of requirements related to your program (Post-Admission
Requirements).

first field / clinical placement. Due to the variety of field/ clinical venues and possible changes
