SUMMARY:
Through market feedback we have reduced the free travel to the firm Brain platform from 25mm to 15mm. This procedure is to
verify and/or adjust the amount of free travel to the firm platform of Position Sensitive Top and Bottom Adjust Brain forks and
dampers.
VERIFICATION:
To check a complete fork with the damper installed, begin by recording all adjuster positions and air spring pressure.
Verify the adjusters are properly clocked and fork adjustments are functioning properly in full closed and full open positions.
If necessary, re-clock the Brain Fade adjuster before continuing.
Set the rebound adjuster to the full open position and the Brain Fade adjuster to the firm position.
Reset the travel indicator O-ring down to the wiper.
Verify the platform position by compressing the fork until the platform is reached.
Let the fork return to the top out position and measure the free travel to the Brain platform.
Adjust the air spring pressure to 30psi and cycle the fork several times to equalize the negative chamber.
Repeat steps 4-6.
If the free travel is not at the desired setting, continue to the adjustment procedure.

the 18mm jam nut and turn the 13mm adjuster nut up or
down for more or less free travel before Brain platform.
One full turn of the 13mm adjuster nut results in 3mm of
free travel adjustment.
Once the platform is set, hand thread the 18mm jam nut
onto the 13mm adjuster nut. While holding the 13mm hex
of the adjuster nut, torque the 18mm jam nut to 78 in-lbf /
8.8 Nm / 90 kg-cm.
Re-install the damper into the fork chassis.

Reset the adjuster settings and air spring pressure to the
recorded settings.
If this procedure did not provide the desired change, it may be
necessary to reset the IFP (Internal Floating Piston) height.
Setting the IFP height requires bleeding and recharging the
damper with nitrogen. For additional information on resetting
the IFP height, please contact your Specialized Service Center.
