A CASE TO STUDY

The admission intervies was conducted by a registered nurse. JA reported the use of continence
aids manage frequent seepage of stool, which began after a haemorrahiodectomy. The surgery
was performed 4 days after a vaginal delivery of her fifth child, a boy weighing 10 pounds, 2
ounces. The hemorrhoid were very painful throughout the las trimester of pregnancy and during
the delivery. JA elected to have surgery done in the immediate postpartum period because her
oldst daughter was home from college for the summer.

The Conversation

Nurse : good morning Ms. Introduce my name is retno. I was a nurse on duty from two in the day
until nine the night. If I may know whose miss name?

Patient : Morning Nurse. My name is JA

Nurse : How are you feeling today?

patients; not in good feeling nurse. How are you doing nurse?

Nurse : I'm fine. let me check your medical record

Patient : sure nurse

Nurse : so now Ms. JA use of continence aids to manage frequent seepage of stool, wich began
after hemorrhoidectomy right?
Patient : Yes nurse, I use continence aids after giving birth

Nurse : Wow congrats on the birth. how is the baby?

Patient : thank you ns. he's my fifth boy, weighing 10 pounds, 2 ounces

Nurse : I hope the baby is always healthy, Ms. JA

Patient : Thank you Nurse retno

Nurse : then how about your hemorrhoids

Patient : the hemorrhoids were very paintful nurse, through the last trimester of pregnancy and
during the delivery.

Nurse : So what made you choose to have surgery immediately after the postpartum period?

Patient : I chose to have surgery immediately after the postpartum period because I was thinking
about my first child coming home during summer vacation.

Nurse : you are a very good mother. well, let's get here first for our interview, is there anything
you want to ask Ms. JA

Patient : no nurse

Nurse: okay then I'll stay first. if Ms. JA needs me, you can come to the nurse station

patient : Okay Nurse retno. Thanks very much
