B. Penggunaan:

1. Dalam simple present tense untuk subject (pelaku) orang ketiga tunggal
(she/he/it/Samuel/Kevin) kata kerjanya ditambah “s/es’ pada kalimat affirmative
(pernyataan)
She cooks an appetizer every weekend.
He throws the ball every time he practices softball.
The cat jumps over the fence.
Gabriel yawns at the class many times.
2. Ketentuan penambahan ‘s/es’ dalam kata kerja sebagai berikut:
a. Jika kata kerja berakhiran dengan huruf desis (ch/c/ss/sh/x/z) atau berakhiran
dengan huruf ‘o’ maka ditambahkan huruf ‘es’ di akhir kata.

b. Apabila kata kerja berakhiran dengan huruf ‘y’ dan didahului oleh huruf
konsonan, maka ‘y’ diubah menjadi ‘i’ kemudian ditambahkan ‘es’ di akhir

langsung ditambahkan huruf ‘s’ saja.

3. Untuk merangkai kalimat negative (peniadaan) dengan menambahkan ‘not’ setelah
‘do’ atau ‘does’.

4. Untuk merangkai kalimat interrogative (pertanyaan) dengan menempatkan
‘’do’atau ‘does’ sebelum subject.
