by-Step Procedures) Students should have their chromebooks on their desks prior
to beginning the lesson. To launch, we will review the
continents using the following link:
https://youtu.be/rCYERpZ4Ujc. The teacher will have to
review the oceans with them directly after the video. Have
students take the pre-assessment quiz. During this, read the
questions and answers aloud.

- Direct Teaching (10 minutes)

Demonstrate how to use an alphanumeric grid. The letters
come first, and then the number. Practice finding points with
the students. For example, to find A2, look at the A column
and the 2 row. Shade that coordinate in. Practice a couple of
times utilizing the examples from the online quiz game as
well as the world map.

- Student Exploration and Practice (15-20 minutes)

On notebook paper, have students number 1-10. For each
number, give them a different alphanumeric points for them
to find using their maps. They need to write what continent or
ocean they believe to be in that point. Model this on the
SmartBoard.

- Closure (5 minutes)
Have the students take the quiz again. When finished, have
the students put their chrome books away in rows.
