Specific heat transfer

Latent heat Evaporative cooling: one portion of the liq evaporate at cost of heat given by the other
part. Which depends on water humidity. If humidity of water is very high (in rainy season) there will
be no mass transfer.so no latent heat of vaporisation. Heat transfer is done by specific heat

Because air contains dust bacteria and inside the cooling tower moist environment which causes
formation of scaling . water also present suspend or desolved solid as it is industrial water. Due to
water is evaporating in cooling tower the concentration OF DESOLVED SOLID will increases ie tds will
increases and after a certain time tds will be maximum and scalling formation will occour. To
overcome this problem some portion of the water is blow

The Hot Process Water in an Industry Primarily gets Cooled in a Cooling Tower, where it loses
heat to the INCOMING AIR from the Bottom by Two Means, namely SPECIFIC HEAT
TRANSFER (Specific Cooling) and LATENT HEAT TRANSFER (Evaporative Cooling). The
Latent Heat Transfer causes a Portion of the Water to Evaporate thus increasing the Total
Dissolved Solids (TDS) concentration in the Remaing Portion of the Water. Excess TDS
concentration would result in #FOULING of the Cooling Tower. Thus at Regular intervals, a
Portion of the Remaining Water (High in TDS) is Blown Down i.e. Removed and an equivalent
amount of Fresh DM water is supplied. The process of Removal is known as #BLOWDOWN
and the Fresh Water added to replenish the Blown Down Portion is called #MAKEUP_WATER .
