Example: The ironic mockumentary The Majestic Plastic Bag released on YouTube on 14 October
2010 deals with a plastic bag’s journey from an urban environment (at the West Coast of the USA) to
the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
As the plastic bag is airborne, there is practically no place where it cannot go: streets, avenues,
neighbourhoods and city parks are popular places where plastic bags can be found. The plastic bag
becomes a toy for dogs, pollutes rivers in California and threatens animals on land and sea because
they consider it to be food and swallow it with deadly consequences. On its journey to the ocean the
plastic bag encounters many dangerous situations – it is almost caught by park services and
destroyed by a Yorkie. It even survives hungry sea animals that try to catch it. Finally, the plastic bag
reaches its destination: the Pacific Ocean, where it joins millions of tons of plastic trash which does
not decompose but has been floating on the ocean for many years and becoming part of the food
chain.
