ENGINE ROOM MACHINERY SPECIFICATION

GENERAL

In general, SS GRACE DAHLIA is built by NYK to cater its spot charter cargo. Depends on the charterer
requirement, it can use 100% gas burning, HFO only, LSHFO only, MGO only or dual fire with any
combination of the fuel with gas fire .

The Main Engine is of single screw propulsion and located in the aft part of the ship. It has additional
Intermediate Pressure turbine which is connected to the HP turbine. The maximum rpm on this engine is
76rpm @ 20.5 knot.

At maximum speed the fuel consumption is as follow:

Dual Fire, HFO/GAS : 15Mt/250m3
HFO only : 150Mt
Gas only :280m3
For a 177000m3 LNG Carrier, this figure is better than our much smaller capacity Puteri Class.

At SECA area, the ship will mostly used 100% gas burning while on passage. During maneuvering, dual
fire will be use, either with MGO or LSHFO, depends on charterer. Normally in port, they will use 100%
gas burning. All this will depends on the charterer instructions.

One geared steam turbine fitted as the main turbine and one fixed pitch propeller.

Two main boilers fitted, the heat cycle of the propulsion machinery plant shall be the reheat,
regenerative and gas air heater cycle. The exhaust steam from high pressure turbine of the main turbine
shall be led to main boiler “Reheater” and shall be reheated when steaming above 55rpm.

The boilers produce 120 bar of steam pressure, this 120bar steam goes to the HP turbines and the
exhaust of HP turbine is diverted to boilers “Reheater” before it goes back to IP turbine and eventually
to main condenser. The “Reheater” can only be in use when steaming above 55rpm, at below 55rpm the
exhaust steam is passing the “Reheater” without doing any work. At above 55rpm the “Reheater”
damper can be open to allow flue gas to reheat the exhaust steam from HP turbine in the boilers and
then it will drive IP turbine to increase efficiency. At 72 rpm, the exhaust steam at IP turbine inlet is
approximately 24bar, 540deg C. An increase of about 200degC can be achieved when the “Reheater” is
in used.

The condensate from the main condenser and feed water will be heated through one distilling plant,
one gland condenser, two low pressure feed water heaters, one dearating feed water heater and two
high pressure feed water heaters.

Bleeding of the main turbine is made at five points: H.P, I.P, Crossover and L.P (two points)
The ship is provided with two steam turbine driven electric generators, two diesel engine driven electric
generators and one emergency diesel engine driven electric generator. The power distribution is 6.6kv,
440v and 100v.

The exhaust steam from the generator turbine is led to the main condenser and for emergency used to
the auxiliary condenser.

1) Main Boiler : HFO, LSHFO, Boil Off Gas and MGO

2) Generator Diesel Engine : MDO
3) Emergency Generator Diesel Engine : MGO
4) Inert Gas Generator :MGO

The Bunker tank capacity is approximately as follow:

HFO : 4230Mt
LSHFO : 637Mt
MGO : 160Mt
MDO : 215Mt

If it is required to burn the boil off gas at main turbine stop or low load condition, excess steam shall be
led to main condenser or auxiliary condenser in an emergency.
Scoop system is provided for cooling the main condenser on normal sea going condition.

One low pressure steam generator is provided for oil heating and miscellaneous service system.
