ACTIVITY 1 – LET’S EXPLORE!

ANTHROPOLOGY - Anthropology is the scientific study of humans with the purpose of


gaining a better knowledge of our evolutionary beginnings, our uniqueness as a
species, and the vast diversity of our social forms around the world over time.
Anthropology focuses on comprehending both our shared humanity and diversity, as
well as engaging with various ways of being in the world.

SOCIOLOGY - Sociology is a fascinating and enlightening field of study that examines


and discusses major issues in our daily lives, communities, and the world. Sociology
studies the societal causes and effects of romantic love, ethnic and gender identity,
family conflict, deviant conduct, aging, and religious faith on human level. Sociology
investigates and discusses such as crime and law, poverty and wealth, prejudice and
discrimination, schools and education, corporate firms, urban communities, and social
movements at the societal level. It also investigates issues such as population
expansion and migration, conflict and peace, and economic development on global
scale.

POLITICAL SCIENCE - Political Science is a traditional field of study that focuses on


political phenomena. Its mission is to improve human understanding of the types and
nature of political action, as well as to provide theoretical tools for analyzing politically
significant facts. Politics and power are studied from domestic, international, and
comparative perspectives in political science. At the local, state, national, and
international levels, political science focuses on philosophy and practice of governance
and politics. We are committed to advancing knowledge of the structures, processes,
and relationships that make up public life, as well as inquiry methods that encourage
citizenship.

SIMIILARITIES - Anthropology studies culture, sociology studies society, and political


science studies politics. These are the fields that fall under the subject social science.
The purpose of those fields is to prepare people for active and responsible civic
engagement through cultivating critical thinking, which is how they are similar.
