MY PRACTICUM SUMARY

Introduction on the on-the-job training or OJT is one of the methods

by which students are given chance to apply the theories and computations
that they have learned from the school. It also helps the students acquire
relevant knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting.
Colleges and universities require their students to undergo such training
within a specific number of hours as part of the curriculum.

For the students, as an OJT or internship program, it provides

opportunities to go through the actual methodologies of a specific job using
the tools, equipment and documents. In effect, the work place becomes a
development venue for a student trainee to learn more about his chosen
field and practice what he has to learn from the academy. On the other
hand, an effective OJT program also benefits the companies who will be
accepting trainees on this program.

First OJT or internship provides additional manpower for lesser labor

cost than a regular employee. Most of them are all eager to learn the ropes,
so chances are high that they will fully cooperate. Employers can use this
internship strategy as a method in recruiting new employees. Since the
trainer or the supervisor can follow the trainees progress, he can gauge
based on performance, behavior and attitude, if the trainee will make a
good recruit after the completion of his internship.

Nothing beats experience. It is indeed a perfect learning tool to fully

immerse trainees into the field they wanted to be. This on-the-job training
serves as my stepping stone to pursue my dream, which is to be
responsible professional someday. This training gave me an inspiration to
be more focused and dedicate myself in learning. I was encouraged to do
more efforts in my studies. Since I was given pieces of advice and idea
about the work where I conducted my training, I am inspired to be a
member of the men in uniform, a Police with dignity and compassion
someday. Despite the short period of training due to the pandemic, indeed
it was a meaningful one. The training helped my developed self-confidence,
be more responsible, which I believe would be of great foundation in
achieving to be a good and responsible Policeman someday.

To be able to hurdle this educational journey in taking Bachelor of

Science in Criminology, brought a significant effect to me. I was motivated
and more inspired. I also learned how to be responsible in both action and
words. This training made me realize that it is not easy to be doing the real

work in the field, but If you have faith in our Almighty God, dedication,
commitment and by loving your work, it will truly give a positive impact in
yourself and to the people surrounding you. Thus, creating a positive ray of
light which makes the work lighter and easier.

During my internship, I also developed a sense of being meticulous in

the work assignment given to me. Adding extra care means being always
attentive to the present situation. And keeping my mind focused with what
is currently handled, getting particular with every single detail without
missing anything. These are the basics which I would say essential in
working in this field. Those theories and learning I had in our class, made it
easier and smooth in doing this tough but amazing job.

This wonderful, challenging and memorable journey of my internship

will forever be imprinted in my memory. Because of this, I can say that I am
now ready to open new doors, and be able to face life with courage and
strength. I am forever grateful to all my instructors, teachers, mentors, and
College Dean for allowing us to experience this once in a lifetime journey.
This is just indeed the start of something new.
