Bill Gates
Family Background : Gates was born William Henry Gates III on October 28, 1955, in
Seattle, Washington. Gates grew up in an upper-middle-class family with his older
sister, Kristianne, and younger sister, Libby. [33]

Education : Bill Gates does not have a college degree. He enrolled at Harvard College in
1973 to study pre-law but also studied mathematics and took a graduate-level computer
science course. Gates left Harvard after two years, opting instead to start his own
computer software company. {44}

Career: Bill Gates is a technologist, business leader, and philanthropist. Gates


wrote his first softwear program at the age of 13. In high school he helped form a group
of programmers who computerized their school’s payroll system and founded Traf-O-
Data, a company that sold traffic-counting systems to local governments. In 1975 Gates,
then a sophomore at Harvard University, joined his hometown friend Paul G. Allen to
develop software for the first microcomputers. They began by adapting BASIC, a
popular programming language used on large computers, for use on microcomputers.
With the success of this project, Gates left Harvard during his junior year and, with
Allen, formed Microsoft. Gates’s sway over the infant microcomputer industry greatly
increased when Microsoft licensed an operating system called MS-DOS to International
Business Machines Corporation. Bill became the king of PC industry. By the start of the
1990s he had become the PC industry’s ultimate kingmaker.

Vision:  William H. Gates III isn't always the first to see the future. But when he finally
zeroes in on what's important, his combination of vision, conviction, and stubborn
tenacity make him unstoppable. “I believe we can avoid a climate disaster — if we
deploy the clean-energy tools we have now wisely, and if we make big breakthroughs
that touch every aspect of our physical economy. 

Mission: Bill Gates is predicting that business travel and office work won't return
to pre-pandemic levels in the future. The Microsoft founder and philanthropist
believes that at around half of business travel will go, along with a third of working in the
office. Many major companies are reconsidering the future of work. Guided by the belief
that every life has equal value, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation works to help all
people lead healthy, productive lives. In developing countries, it focuses on improving
people's health and giving them the chance to lift themselves out of hunger and
extreme poverty.

Main contribution: Bill Gates established Microsoft, the most successful computer
software company. ...
He co-developed the programming language BASIC for Altair. He made the PC DOS
operating system deal with IBM. Bill does millions of charity every year. {353}
Steve Jobs
Family Background: Jobs was born to Joanne Schieble (later Joanne Simpson) and
Abdulfattah "John" Jandali, two University of Wisconsin graduate students. The couple
gave up their unnamed son for adoption. Jobs' father, Jandali, was a Syrian political
science professor. His mother, Schieble, worked as a speech therapist. {45}

Education: As Jobs was completing his school project and needed some parts to finally
assemble it, courageously he asked for them to the president of Hewlett-Packard.
Amazed by his bold and brave step, William Hewlett provided him with the parts along
with an internship offer at the company. After the high-school phase of Steve Jobs
Education, another crucial milestone came into his life when he went to Poland to join
the Reed College. Not finding any interest in his undergraduate studies, Jobs decided to
drop out of college and take those classes which he found himself inclined towards. He
attended calligraphy classes and spent nights at the dorms of his friends.{110}

Career: Steve Jobs was a charismatic pioneer of the personal computer era. With
Steve Wozniak, Jobs founded Apple Inc. in 1976 and transformed the company into a
world leader in telecommunications. Widely considered a visionary and a genius, he
oversaw the launch of such revolutionary products as the iPod and the iPhone. His goal,
according to Walter Isaacson's biography “Steve Jobs,” was to build an enduring
company that prioritized people. Everything else — products and profits — while still
important, would be secondary.
Vision: While many could see it as a diversion or escape from a dying, depressing
reality, Steve Job's vision and belief was that building tools for human beings. His
vision for Apple was a company that turned powerful technology into tools that were
easy to use, tools that would help people realize their dreams and change the world for
the better
Mission: According to the Economist, Steve Jobs' mission statement for Apple in 1980
was: “To make a contribution to the world by making tools for the mind that
advance humankind.”

Main Contribution:  He co-founded a company named Apple along with Steve
Wozniac. .He delivered the first commercially successful personal computer.
He introduced GUI, built in screen and mouse into a personal computer. {204}
Warren Buffet
Family background: Warren Edward Buffett was born on August 30, 1930, in Omaha,
Nebraska. Buffett's father, Howard, worked as a stockbroker and served as a U.S.
congressman. His mother, Leila Stahl Buffett, was a homemaker. Buffett was the
second of three children and the only boy. (46)

Education: Buffett started his education at the Wharton School at the University of
Pennsylvania before moving back to go to the University of Nebraska, where he
received an undergraduate degree in business administration. Buffett later went to the
Columbia Business School where he earned his graduate degree in economics. {43}

Career: Known as the "Oracle of Omaha," Warren Buffett is one of the most successful
investors of all time. Buffett runs Berkshire Hathaway, which owns more than 60
companies, including insurer Geico, battery maker Duracell and restaurant chain Dairy
Queen .The son of a U.S. congressman, he first bought stock at age 11 and first filed
taxes at age 13.He has promised to donate over 99% of his wealth. So far he has given
more than $45 billion, mostly to the Gates Foundation and his kids' foundations .In
2010, he and Bill Gates launched the Giving Pledge, asking billionaires to commit to
donating at least half of their wealth to charitable causes.

Vision: “I always knew I was going to be rich, I don’t think I ever doubted it for a
second" -Warren Buffett. Warren Buffett's vision was to become wealthy. Even though
this may sound like a shallow vision, he wanted to use his talents to the best of his
ability and make something out of himself. He wanted to take a small sum of money and
turn it into a huge amount. Warren Buffet is also known for encouraging billionaires to
give a lot of their money to charity and become philanthropists.

Mission : To be the best “digital-εCompany. Berkshire Hathaway Mission: Deliver the


right parts exactly on time, exceed our internal and external customer
requirements through continuous improvement, and provide a place for hard-
working, dedicated, knowledgeable and ethical people who believe in the company .
Main contribution : Billionaire Warren Buffett has donated another $4.1bn (£2.9bn)
worth of Berkshire Hathaway shares to charity. Regarded as the world's most
successful investor, the Berkshire Hathaway chairman has given away huge sums of
his wealth to charity.  {283}

Zeff Bezos
Family Background: Bezos was born on January 12, 1964, in Albuquerque, New
Mexico, to a teenage mother, Jacklyn Gise Jorgensen, and his biological father, Ted
Jorgensen. The Jorgensens were married less than a year. When Bezos was 4 years
old, his mother remarried Mike Bezos, a Cuban immigrant. Mike agreed and raised
Bezos, even granting him his last name. Mike came from a Cuban immigrant family and
worked as an engineer for Exxon when he moved to the US. {80}

Education: Jeff Bezos attended a Montessori school in Albuquerque, New Mexico


when he was young Bezos graduated from Princeton University in 1986. He holds a
degree in electrical engineering and computer science. {32}

Career: Jeff Bezos is an American retail entrepreneur mostly well known as the
founder and CEO of Amazon.
Mission: Blue Origin NS-16. NS-16 was the first human spaceflight from the US state of
Texas.He intends to offer customers the lowest possible prices, the best available
selection, and the utmost convenience be creating Amazon.
Vision:To be earth’s most customer-centric.Vision For the Future: Humanity In The
Star.Seeks to enable millions of people to live and work in space, benefiting the planet.

Main contribution: Donating $33 million to a scholarship fund for young “dreamers,”
immigrants brought to the United States illegally as children.Bezos is considered one of the most
innovative leaders of the 21st century due to his ability to envision and develop new creative
ways to address issues. He emphasized investing in deeper customer relationships by leveraging
technology; thus, he developed the algorithm.
Blue Origin was founded by him in September 2000 for the purpose of making space travel more
affordable, frequent, and accessible. Its reusable launch system allows for cheap, frequent, and
more frequent travel into space. {280}
Mark Zuckerberg
Family Background: Zuckerberg was born on May 14, 1984, in White Plains, New York, into a
comfortable, well-educated family. Zuckerberg’s father, Edward Zuckerberg, ran a dental
practice attached to the family's home His mother, Karen, worked as a psychiatrist Four brother
and sister. {43}

Education: Began at Ardsley High School.His parents hired private computer tutor David
Newman to come to the house once a week and work with Zuckerberg. His father taught
him Atari BASIC Programming in the 1990s took and took graduate course in the subject
at Mercy College. Zuckerberg transferred to Phillips Exeter Academy, a co-ed boarding
school Enrolled at Harvard to study computer science and psychology. {65}

Career: Mark Zuckerberg is an American media magnate, internet entrepreneur, and


philanthropist. He is known for co-founding Meta Platforms.
Mission: Bringing the World Closer Together.
Give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. Zucc’s new
project Meta is a wonder for the whole universe. He is currently working on a virtual life full of
3D objects. A world inside the display via web.

Main Contributions: Being cofounder and chief executive officer of Facebook, the world's
largest social network Web site. Facebook reported 2.74 billion monthly active users in the third
quarter of 2020. It has been a point for business, marketing, entertainment and communication
media for billions of people over the world. {118}
