LESSON 1: Historical and Antecedents which Changed the Course of Science and Technology
ANALYSIS
1. Based on the activity, how did the knowledge of different ages in science affect
technology development?
2. How would you compare the technology of ancient, middle, and modern periods?
Answer: The technology of ancient time, middle or modern periods are significantly varied.
In ancient time, they only use stone or any hard object in the archaic period and design it
as a knife used for hunting, building their house, planting, and related things that stone is
used. The invention of such a tool is beneficial to the different people living in tribes. They
serve their food uncooked and eat it without heating. By that time, they discover a fire by
grinding two pieces of stone and combining it with oxygen and fuels because of the
situation they experienced. Since people are nomadic, they travel from one place to another
to look for food to survive.
In the middle period, new knowledge has enabled people to create new things. Conversely,
many scientific endeavors are made possible by technologies that assist humans in traveling
to places they could not previously reach and by scientific instruments by which we study
nature in more detail than our natural senses allow. People have enough knowledge to have
a formal outlook, permanent living having a stable way of living.
In the modern age, the most advance or high technology application. The technology in the
middle age was improved from this period. It makes all works, transactions, and other
related to technology fast, better, and more accessible.
3. Is there any significant contribution to ancient technologies for our day? Explain?
Answer: Yes, in everything, there should be a beginning. Ancient technology is the main
reason for what we have today. Without these people maybe we cannot invent a new one or
know how to improve this kind of technology. Although it is just a simple one, it is
beneficial to the people, preferably those living in a cave or dense forest. For example,
Cuneiform from Sumerians' civilization is the earliest form of writing until we improve it
to universal alphabet letters. In short, the present doesn't exist without the past.
