BAB 1.

Passive Voice
To change an active sentence into passive, we can do the
following :
1. Move the direct object of the active sentence into the
subject of the passive.
2. Change the finite form of the verb into be + past
participle.
3. Move the subject of the active sentence into the object
by adding prepositionsl “by” (sometimes it is dropped).
4. The pattern of passive voice
Subject + to be + being + past participle/ verb 3 + By +
Objek .
(present/past continuous tense)

Rumus passive voice tergantung pada jenis tense yang di


gunakan, artinya masing- masing tense pada bahasa inggris
mempunyai rumus passive voice yang berbeda.
Example
 Positive sentences:
Dona is reading a health magazine. (active)
A health magazine is being read by Dona. (passive)
 Negative sentences:
Tania is not drinking the soft drink
The soft drink is not being drunk by Tania
NOTE
Penggunaan atau perubahan kalimat aktif menjadi kalimat
pasif hanya berlaku untuk kata kerja (verb) tidak berlaku untuk
kata sifat (adjective), kata benda (noun) dan kata keterangan
(adverb)
