Introduction
As an owner of a construction company Class A, Grade G7, you were recently being awarded a new
proposed development of 20 units of a five-storey lecture room building by a Universiti Tun Hussein
Onn Malaysia (UTHM). The construction site is 5 acres of land consisting of bushes, large trees,
watery area and the rest contains dilapidated two-storey buildings that need to be demolished. You
were requested by the UTHM to provide a preliminary risk assessment report before the
commencement of the construction and recommend the appropriate risk controls to ensure the
safety and health of workers and campus residents while performing their works, and further prevent
an accident. Your report should be following the HIRARC guideline and regulations of the
Department of Safety and Health Malaysia (DOSH).
(If necessary the student is allowed to make assumptions to complete the instructions given).

Report format
1. Introduction
A brief description of the task (project) and the job task is given. The introduction
must include a specific work process assigned to your group in terms of safety and
health.
3. Identify and analyse the method of risk assessment process according to guidelines and
regulations of the Department of Safety and Health Malaysia (DOSH).
- Identify hazards (Safety and health hazard)
- Control measures
- Risk estimation and risk evaluation.
- Provide matrix used, explanation of likelihood and severity and decision for action
5. Describe and explain the impact of the most critical safety and health risks identified
related to engineering practices for the benefit of society.
6. Explain the overall results of the project in detail including control measures (preventive
and corrective) related to engineering practices for the benefit of society.
7. Conclusion.
