Multiplication is repeated addition.
To get the product in multiplication, multiply the
multiplicand by the multiplier.
Multiplier tells the number of times a number is to be
added or the number of sets/groups while multiplicand
is the number to be added or the number of elements in
a set.
Example:
3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 18
6 x 3 = 18

Commutative Property of Multiplication - states that the order

Associative Property of Multiplication - the product remains


the same even if the factors are grouped differently.

Example: (5 x 3) x 4 = 5 x (3 x 4)

Distributive Property of Multiplication - states that multiplying


a number by a sum is the same as multiplying that number
by adding and adding those results.

In multiplying 2- to 3-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers
without or with regrouping, remember the following steps:

1. Multiply the ones. Write the product under the ones


place.
2. Then, multiply the digit in the tens place by the multiplier.
Write the product under the tens place.
3. Lastly, multiply the digit in the hundreds place by the
multiplier. Write the product under the hundreds place.
4. If the product or total in any place is 10 or more, regroup
the last digit and add this digit to the next product
