Chapter IV

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS, AND INTERPRETATION

This chapter deals with the presentation analysis and interpretation of data gathered. It

presents and informs the discussion of research question about the psychological effects of

distance learning (modular) to Senior High School students in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur along with

these are the difficulties, frustrations, and unfulfilled desires and how these psychological effects

of new learning system to the selected students.

Table 1 presents the profile of respondents of the study with respect to their age, gender

and their grade level. In terms of age, there was one (3.33%) respondent who is 16 years old

meanwhile, the percentage of the 14 respondents who are 17 years old is 46.67%. There are also

12 (40%) respondents who are 18 years old. Lastly, there were three (10%) respondents who are

19 years old. In terms of gender, there were 12 (40%) male respondents and 18 (60%) female

respondents. And in terms of grade level, there were only 6 (20%) grade 11 respondents and

there were also 24 (80%) grade 12 respondents.

Table 2 presents that “Lack of communication with the teacher (54.17%)” is the main

challenge encountered by a Senior High School Student during modular learning. There were 2

respondents who answered both “Not good in the use of devices” and “Lack of communication

with the teacher”. There were also 5 respondents who answered both “Lack of communication

with the teacher” and “Inaccessible internet/ for network services”. Lastly, there were 5

respondents who answered 3 challenges they have encountered which are “Not good in the use

of devices”, “Lack of communication with the teacher”, and “Inaccessible internet/ for network

services”. It can be concluded that majority of the respondents answered “Lack of

communication with the teacher”.

Table 3 shows that students are suffering difficulties or problems on their academic

performance. There were 3 respondents (10%) who answered “No” and there were 6 respondents

(20%) who answered “Not Serious”. There were also 11 respondents (36.67%) who answered

“Serious” and 10 respondents (33.33%) who answered “It is hard to deal with it”.

Table 4 shows that psychological effects affected the students in their studies during

modular learning. There were 9 respondents (30%) who answered “Normal”, there were 5

respondents (16.67%) who answered “Extremely Severe”, there were 10 respondents (33.33%)
who answered “Severe”, there were 5 respondents who answered “Moderate”, and lastly, there

was one respondent (3.33%) who answered “Mild”.

Table 5 shows that modular learning has changed the students’ psychological well-being.

2 respondents answered all the four choices and 8 respondents answered three choices which are

“Daily routine changes”, “Suffering stress”, and “Lack of communication with the other

student”. Lastly, 2 respondents answered only “Selfless feels”.

It can be concluded that the majority of the respondents answered “Daily routine

changes” and “Suffering stress”.

Table 6 presents the level of stress suffered by students during modular learning. There

were 8 respondents (26.67%) who answered “Normal”, 7 respondents (23.33%) who answered

“Extremely severe”, 5 respondents (16.67%) who answered “Severe”, there were also 8

respondents (26.67%) who answered “Moderate”, and lastly, there were 2 respondents (6.67%)

who answered “Mild”.

Table 7 presents the level of mental health difficulties experienced by students during

modular learning. There were 12 respondents (20%) who answered “Normal”, 5 respondents

(16.67%) who answered “Extremely Severe”, 4 respondents (13.33%) who answered “Severe”, 8

respondents (26.67%) who answered “Moderate”, and lastly, there was one respondent (3.33%)

who answered “Mild”.

Table 8 shows how modular distance learning give an impact to Senior High School

Students. There were 6 respondents (20%) who answered “Normal”, 2 respondents (6.67%) who

answered “Extremely Severe”, 10 respondents (33.33%) who answered “Severe”, 11 respondents

who answered “Moderate”, and lastly, there was one respondent who answered “Mild”.

Table 9 shows how serious the psychological problem(s) encountered by the students.

There were 3 respondents (10%) who answered “Normal”, 7 respondents (23.33%) who

answered “Extremely Severe”, 9 respondents (30%) who answered “Severe”, 8 respondents

(26.67%) who answered “Moderate”, and lastly, there were 3 respondents (10%) who answered

“Mild”.

Table 10 presents the level of effort that a student puts into his/her studies during the

pandemic. There were 14 respondents (46.67%) who answered “Normal”, 7 respondents

(23.33%) who answered “Extremely Severe”, 5 respondents (16.67%) who answered “Severe”,

one respondent (3.33%) who answered “Moderate”, and lastly, there were 3 respondents who

answered “Mild”.

Table 10 shows how students experienced/felt “hardships” or “difficulties” on answering

their modules. There was only one respondent (3.33%) who answered “Nothing”. There were

also 19 respondents (63.33%) who answered “Hard” and 10 respondents (33.33%) who answered

“Very hard (Difficult)”.
