Short Sādhana

OM SVABHAVA ŚUDDHĀH SARVA DHARMĀH SVABHAVA ŚUDDHO 'HAM
Visualization:
Out of the essence of Śunya appears a lotus and a moon, and standing on this is
a saffron-coloured letter MU.
Rays of light emanate out from this and are absorbed back into the bija which
transforms into yourself in the form of Ārya Mañjuśri Sthīra Cakra.
His body is the colour of fresh young saffron, and he has one face and two
hands.
In his right hand he holds a sword aloft, and in the left a manuscript book of
the Mahāyāna scriptures is held to the heart.
He is adorned with jewelled ornaments, dressed in silks, and is seated in the
Vajra posture.
Inner Yoga:
In his heart is an eight-spoked wheel, and in its centre and the four directions
are the syllables: A RA PA CA NA.
On the four intermediate spokes are the four elements Fire, Air, Water, Earth.
In the eight spaces between the spokes are the 16 Āli vowels of the Sanskrit
alphabet, arranged in pairs:
A Ā, I Ī, U Ū, RI RĪ, LI LĪ, E AI, O AU, AM AH.
On the rim clockwise, is the garland of 34 Kali-consonants:
KA KHA GA GHA NGA, CA CHA JA JHA ÑA,
TA THA DA DHA NA, TA THA DA DHA NA,
PA PHA BA BHA MA, YA RA LA VA
ŚA SA SA, HA KSA.
All these letters (the Arapacana and the 50 Sanskrit letters), are blazing with
saffon-coloured light, which streams forth to all the Tathagatas of the Ten Di-
rections, completely invoking the real vibration of Ārya Mañjuśri Sthīra
Cakra.
OM VAJRA SAMĀJAH JAH HŪM BAM HOH
He is absorbed into you and becomes one with you.
Then the Dhyāni Buddhas are invoked:
OM VAJRA SAMĀJAH
Consecration is requested.
OM VAJRĪ BHAVA ABHISIÑCA HŪM
Thus reciting, water from the vase pours down, filling your body and driving
out the impurities. The excess water flows upwards and gathers into the form
of the Buddha Aksobhya on the crown of your head.
Mantra Yoga:
In the heart is the bija MU, surrounded by the mantra garland, from, which
light rays emanate to all the Buddhas and Bodhisatttvas. The light returns with
their blessings, and is absorbed into you.
OM ARAPACANA MUH
Dissolving:
Once again light emanates from the bīja, illuminating all space, and returns
dissolving everything into Śunyatā.
Reappearing:
Then Front-Arising Deity is invoked, and Ārya Mañjuśri Sthīra Cakra ap-
pears in space before you.
Now render offerings and praise to the Front-Arising Deity:
OM ĀRYA MAÑJUŚRI STHĪRA CAKRA ARGHAM PRATĪCCHA
SVĀHĀ, PĀDYAM, .... etc., up to ... ŚABDA PRATĪCCHA SVĀHĀ.
Manifesting in the body of a youth,
Clear and sublime, a burning lamp of Wisdom,
Dispelling the darkness of the Three Worlds,
To Mañjughosa I bow down.
This concludes the praises.
Torma Offering:
OM SVABHAVA ŚUDDHĀH SARVA DHARMĀH SVABHAVA ŚUDDHO 'HAM
From the essence of Śunya appears a precious mani gem (rinpoche), which
transforms into a vast bowl, broad and extensive.
Within this is the Torma, of sublime colour, smell and taste, which then trans-
forms into the Great Ocean of the Jñāna Amrta
OM ĀH HŪM
Reciting this three times, bless the offerings and perform the mudra of the
‘Space-Vast Treasury’ (Uparatna Mudra: ‘mountain of jewels’, or Ākāśa-kosa:
‘space-treasury’).
Then offer the Torma:
OM ĀRYA MAÑJUŚRI STHIRA CAKRA, IDAM BALINGTA KHA KHA
KHĀHI KHĀHI.
