their beliefs and practices, and the ruling kings and captains. It was also stated in the text
how the Spanish navigators propagated Christianism, the sanduguan, the trading of gifts among
captains, and the battle of the natives and Magellan along with his men that happened in
Mactan. Pigafetta’s work is important not only as a main source of information about the
voyage itself, but also includes the description and stories about the people and languages of

1. Cultural Practices and Traditions.

Answer:
The Philippines is known to have a very unique culture because of our religious
ancestors and the influence of colonization. Our traditions are comprised of various worshiping
styles, superstitious beliefs and practices, gods, and burials. To discuss, Filipinos have temples
of adoration where they worship their gods and celebrate their festivals. It is a place where
the whole barangay gathered together to worship. Filipinos have several idols whom they pray
for, which include dead people and the different celestial bodies. Filipinos also have beliefs
and practices such as offering a sacrifice to proclaim feast or to offer a food to the devil. The
sacrifice is being done in front of their idol in order for their desires to be granted. They also
have beliefs on the different kinds of ghosts and devils, and the event of a girl who first had
her monthly course. Furthermore, the Filipinos do not have established division of years until
the Spaniard colonization. During those times, days were determined based on the natural
phenomena such as yielding of fruits, flowers, and leaves. Lastly, when a Filipino dies, the
family of the deceased often perform religious burial depending on the practices of the region
they reside and their social status.
