I. UNDERSTANDING THE HISTORIAN
1. Biography of the Historian
A. Emilio Jacinto Dizon Known as the “Brains Of the Katipunan Was born in Trozo,
Manila ,on December 15,1875. He was the only son of Mariano Jacinto and Josefa Dizon.
Shortly after he was born, his father passed away and his mother sent him to live with his
uncle, Don Jose Dizon, one of the founders of Katipunan.
B. The purpose of his story is to know about Emilio Jacinto Dizon In his short life, Jacinto
helped to lead the fight for Filipino independence from Spain. He laid out principles for the
new government envisioned by Bonifacio; in the end, however, neither man would survive to
see the Spanish overthrown

II. ANALYZING THE HISTORICAL ACCOUNT


1. Writing Style and Purpose:
A. This story is descriptive writing, descriptive writing show a true story and helps the reader
visualize the person, place, thing, or situation being described. When a text conjures a vivid,
sensory impression in the reader’s mind, not only does it make the writing more interesting to
read; it helps the reader understand the text better and recognize the author’s intention more
clearly.
B. The primary purpose of descriptive writing is to describe a person, place or thing in such a
way that a picture is formed in the reader’s mind, The benefits of using descriptive writing is
to enhances and promotes language, new vocabulary, and encourages students to learn about
things they are unfamiliar with.
2. Historiographical Analysis:
A. He enrolled at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Intramuros. Hethen transferred to the
University of Santo Tomas to take up law. Emilio left college before completing his law
degree. Very little was known about Emilio childhood

III. STUDENT ANALYSIS AND CRITIQUE
1. Personal Analysis:
A. Some qualities that would describe Jose Rizal are being open-minded, intelligent, and
hardworking. Jose really wanted to have freedom in the Philippines from Spain, so that the
Filipinos did not have to be controlled by another country. He did not care about himself. He
cared more about helping his country.
B. Other than being the legend of the Philippines, Jose Rizal was likewise referred to through
time as the First Filipino, Pride of the Malayan Race, the Greatest Malayan, among others.
Many thought of him as a virtuoso, a genius, all things considered, a loyalist, a model sibling
and an ideal child.

A. He revised the Kartilya ng Katipunan which is first written by Andres Bonifacio. He was
also a poet. He wrote literary pieces, the most famous of which was the patriotic A La Patria
(To My Fatherland), in October 8, 1897, signed Deasia. It was inspired by Rizal’s MI Ultimo
Adios Jacinto’s Poem nevertheless brims with patriotic sincerity and said to equal Piece

III. RELEVANCE TO YOUNGER FILIPINOS


1. Relevance of Historical Details
A. The Kartilya ng Katipunan served as the guidebook for new members of the organization,
which laid out the group’s rules and principles. The first edition of the Kartilya was written by
Andres Bonifacio, Emilio Jacinto will later pen a revised Decalogue. This is a secondary
source that made use of the minutes of a supreme assembly dated December 1895 as a primary
source and was published in the year 2013. Richardson’s and Jacinto’s documents were
published for the Filipino people; Emilio’s kartila primarily wrote the document for the
recruits of katipunan. The author is Jim Richardson, an american photographer for National
Geographic Magazine and contributing editor to TRAVELER Magazine.
B. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Emilio Jacinto was an eloquent and brave young man that brought
him in the position for the “Brain of Katipunan”. He wrote a newspaper entitled “ Kalyaan”
and was the author of “Kartilya ng Katipunan”. This is the guide book for new members and
current members of katipunan. He was one of the highest ranking officers in the Philippines
Revolution and was one of the highest ranking officers of the revolutionary society Kataas –
taasang, Kagalang – galangang na Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan or simply and more
popularly called Katipunan, being a member of its Supreme Council. He was elected secretary
of the State for the Haring Bayang Katagalugan, a revolutionary government established
during the outbreak of hostilities. He is popularly known in Philippine History texbooks as the
Basis of the Katipunan while some content he should be rightfully recognized as the “Brain of
the Revolution” (a title given to Apolinario Mabini). Jacinto was present in the Cry of Pugad
Lawin with Andres Bonifacio, the supremo of the katipunan, and others of its member which
signated the start of tge Revolution against the spanish colonial government in the island. He’s
real name is Emilio Jacinto y Dizon and is from Tondo Manila. He is known for his pen name,
“pingkian” “Dimasilaw” “ka llyong”. He was married to Catalina de Jesus who was pregnant
at the time of his death. The fist edition of the Kartilya was written by Andres bonifacio but is
a later on revised as Decalogue by Emilio Jacinto.
IV. IMPORTANCE AND FUNCTION OF HISTORY
1. Importance of History
A. Studying history allows us to observe and understand how people and societies behaved.
For example, we are able to evaluate war, even when a nation is at peace, by looking back at
previous events. History provides us with the data that is used to create laws, or theories about
various aspects of society., but also develop the ability to avoid mistakes and create better
paths for our societies. History is essential because it enables us to gain wisdom from the past,
engage in more educated decision-making, and craft a more favorable future. It helps us graps
the intricacies of human experiences and interactions, as well as gives insights into the
development of societies and the preservation of cultural traditions.

B. Through history, we can learn how past societies, systems, ideologies, governments,
cultures and technologies were built, how they operated, and how they have changed. The rich
history of the world helps us to paint a detailed picture of where we stand today. The study of
history will continue to play an essential part in the process of societal development because it
encourages empathy, tolerance, and a deeper knowledge of the intricacies of the human
experience. the history gives us a sense of identity because we get to know how our nation
started with what it is today. History also molds us to be a responsible Filipino citizens, that
we should not be ashamed of where we come from and be proud to be a Filipino. It might be
helpful to people to understand the History of the people’s who do something in world..
