Introduction
Entrust Datacard is pleased to announce the release of Datacard® CardWizard® Issuance
Software:
• Datacard® CardWizard® Issuance Software 6.5.1 LDS
• Datacard® CardWizard® Issuance Software 6.5.1 Server
• Datacard® CardWizard® 5.4.23.6

Datacard Adaptive Issuance Suite 6.5.1 is part of the release for Instant Issuance

New Features
In addition to the features already present in the existing software, several new features have
been added:

PIN Pads

•
Customers can modify the weak PIN policy
o No changes required for customers that do not want to change the weak PIN
Policy
o Customers who want to change the weak pin policy to allow teller to accept a
weak PIN entry they need to enable “Allow Weak Pin Entry” in CW System
Configuration
Deployment

• Added capability to install the Local Device Service (LDS) in silence to simplify the
installation

Printer

• Mixed printer environment support. As an example, a customer who has a fleet of

CR500 can easily integrate new retransfer printers such CE875, CR825 in some branches.
Card formats can be defined for each printer type.

• Skip Printer Ribbon Option added to the Web application for CE875 & CE870 card
printers
o The selection of this configuration allows cards to be processed but printable
elements to be ignored if not detected
 This will result in a white card unless preprinted card stock is used
o No action required for customers who want to reject card requests when printer
ribbon is not detected
 CW rejects all card requests that contain printable elements if a ribbon is
not detected
• CE875 and CR825 card printers printing quality improvement by adding the support of
the Trapping color

Network Security

• Secure flag is added to the CardWizard cookie and set TRUE

o Cookie can only be transmitted over HTTPS to improve security
o Prior version allowed cookie to be sent over HTTP connections
o Backend change with no impact to new or existing customers

• Card Wizard default changed from LDAP to LDAPS

o Customers using or upgrading to CW 6.5.1 that will would like to use non-SSL
LDAP need to set extension External Authentication Class to configuration to:
LDAPManagerNonSecure
o DEFAULT now represents LDAP which has represented LDAPS
o Customers that will use LDAPS need to update SSL channel on their AD server

Network Security

•
In Application Default Password Security Change
o Passwords must now contain
 At least Eight characters - Default was Seven
 Cannot contain the user name
o New policy will take affect:
 For NEW users
 When Existing users are prompted to change their current password
 When Existing users are requesting a password reset
• The Web Application’s “currentUser” Cookie has been updated
o Username, UserID, and user permissions are no longer stored in the
“currentUser” cookie
o This prevents someone from hacking and using another person’s permission
o Backend change with no impact to new or existing customers
Reports

• Removed the following Information from Server Report

o Connection String information
o Server IP address
o Application Service Server Name =
o License Settings

SDK/API

• Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) policy has new requirement when using Web API
o Change affects ALL customers using or upgrading to CW 6.5.1

• CMSInquiry modified and added new route CMSrecords

o Switch to the new CMSrecords Web API for greater data security.
o If continuing to use existing CMSInquiry Web API:
 By default they will get a Partial Record
 If the “Partial Record” List is OK – no action required
 If the “Full Record” is Required:
 Set the “Provide Full CMS Record To Client” flag
 This can be done through CW UI or API

API Status added for KIOSK applications to indicate when a card is ready to be picked
by the user. This new status indication helps improve the user experience so the
customer can add a message to the user that the card is ready

EMV / Key Management

• Support of Datacard Adaptive Issuance Suite 6.5.1

• Smart card personalization applications developed using the Obsolete Smart Card
Personalization Manager (SCPM) or Affina Personalization Manager (APM) SDKs are no
longer supported with CardWizard 6.5.1 and cannot be used.

Note : Datacard Adaptive Issuance Suite Release 6.5 is compatible with Cardwizard 6.5.1
but it does not include the new weak PIN list features (refer to the item above). No other
version of Adaptive Issuance software is supported.

Network Traffic optimization

• Added system configuration to set device status and job status

o Job status polling can be set with intervals between 2 - 180 seconds. The
recommended maximum is 30 seconds.
o Device status polling can be set with intervals between 15 - 300 seconds. The
recommended maximum is 60 seconds.
o Device status requests have been configured to remove ribbon data in specific
cases, which should result in payload size of 30-70%

The Basic and Professional Instant Issuance Software 6.5.1 now available. All factory systems
orders requiring this software and software-only orders after September 24, 2018 will contain
this version of the software.
