Na, 16 km north of the coast, is shown in the graph 1. During the first quarter of the year, the mean
wind energy density value grew, then declined with a variable tendency.
Monthly wind energy data collected by pilot balloons at Bangkok Pilot Station, a platform in the sea 16
km south of the coast where the wind is measured at a height of 30 m above the sea surface, is shown in
the graph 2. The mean wind energy density value climbed sharply from January to April, then gradually
fell with minimal volatility until the end.

This lies outside -2 to 2 .Therefore we conclude that the correlation of the population is significantly
different from zero with a confidence level of 95%.

Wind energy can be converted to electricity by wind turbines. The potential of off-shore wind energy is
higher than on -shore. Wind data collected January to December revealed an average wind density of
14.32 m^2 per day from 16kn north to Bangkok at 500m height.
Simulations of wind farms based on these data gave capacity factor in the range 0_35 that such
investment would be poorly utilized. The potential of wind turbine installation on the more elevated
parts of Gulf Thailand should be assessed as those locations have higher wind speed.
