Leadership
Leaders and their leadership skills play an important
role in the growth of any organization. Leadership
refers to the process of influencing the behavior of
people in a manner that they strive willingly and
enthusiastically towards the achievement of group
objectives.
Features of leadership
1. Influence the behavior of others: Leadership is an ability of an individual to
influence the behavior of other employees in the organization to achieve a
common purpose or goal .

organizational goals.

Biz leaders join forces to build new
university

India’s top businesses have joined forces to build a new university that will
prepare students for an economy that will increasingly rely on artificial
intelligence (AI), robotics and data science. Software company Mphasis Ltd and
InfoEdge India, and a bunch of wealthy individuals plan to open the science and
technology university in Mohali, near Chandigarh in August this year. The
university will focus on teaching and research in areas such as AI, robotics,
cyber-physical system, data science and economics. Half of the investment had
collected and remaining done before August, said by Neeraj Aggarwal, chairman,
Asia Pacific at Boston Consulting Group and co-founder of the university. Aim
of university is to promote entrepreneurs' ideas. The research in the university
will focus on addressing India’s challenges in areas such as smart agriculture,
clean energy, future of mobility, human and planetary health and affordable

1 . FOREIGN UNIVERSITY CAMPUS ESTABLISHMENT IN OUR COUNTRY(AS
ALLOWED BY OUR NEW NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY ) IS GOOD OR BAD

THE NEW EDUCATION POLICY (NEP 2020) STATES THAT THE WORLD'S TOP
UNIVERSITY WILL FACILITATE TO OPERATE IN THE COUNTRY THROUGH A
NEW LAW. ANOTHER FACTOR AMONG RELIABLE DRIVERS FOR OPENING
FOREIGN UNIVERSITIES IN INDIA IS THE LACK OF QUALITY EDUCATION
ACCESSIBLE IN THE COUNTRY. ENABLE WORLD-CLASS EDUCATION AVAILABLE
LOCALLY AT A SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER COST OF TRAVELLING AND WILL
CONSIDERABLY REDUCE THE LIKELIHOOD OF HUMAN CAPITAL MIGRATING TO
OTHER COUNTRIES FOR JOB PROSPECTS.
ACCORDING TO VARIOUS GLOBAL SURVEYS, CROSS-BORDER EDUCATION IS
BENEFICIAL FOR THE ECONOMY AND BRINGS A WIDER LEVEL OF GLOBAL
AWARENESS, CULTURALLY PERCEPTIVE, AND COMPETITIVENESS.
FOREIGN COLLABORATIONS ENABLE LOCAL INSTITUTES TO DESIGN THEIR
CURRICULUM IN ALIGNMENT WITH INTERNATIONAL PEDAGOGY AND OFFER
A DIVERSE PORTFOLIO OF SUBJECTS AND SPECIALISATION TO STUDENTS,
FOREIGN PLAYERS MAY ALLOW INVESTING IN THE MARKET TO ENSURE
CAPACITY BUILDING AND INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT.
Q- 2 HAS EDUCATION SYSTEM NOW BECAME A BUSINESS IN OUR COUNTRY? IF
YES! IS IT GOOD OR BAD ?IF IT IS BAD STATE STEPS FOR BETTER FUTURE

EDUCATION IS THE ONLY THING WHICH GIVES POWER TO A MAN TO SEARCH HIS
WAYS HIMSELF. IT WAS TRUE FOR EDUCATION BUT NOWADAYS ITS IMPACT HAS
BEEN REVERSED. IT IS SO BECAUSE EDUCATION IS BECOMING THE MEDIUM OF
EARNING MONEY AND NOT A WAY OF IMPARTING KNOWLEDGE. DUE TO LACK OF
DECENT SCHOOLS IN THE COUNTRY, IT ALSO FORCED PARENTS TO CHOOSE
BETWEEN WHATEVER CHOICE IT PROVIDED THEM WITH.

1. HOLISTIC EDUCATION INSTILS CURIOSITY AND DEVELOP BETTER

COMMUNICATION AND SOCIAL SKILLS. HOLISTIC APPROACH ENCOURAGES
CHILDREN TO MAKE CONNECTION IN A SUBJECT, USING THEIR CREATIVE SKILLS.
DEVELOP PSYCHOLOGICAL, SOCIAL, AND EMOTIONAL GROWTH. MAKE LEARNING
NATURAL AND ENGAGING.
2. FOCUS ON ONE IDEA, NOT ON MANY HE EXISTING LEARNING METHODS DEPEND
ON MANY VARIOUS IDEAS AND PROJECTS. BUT ACCORDING TO THE PROJECT-
BASED LEARNING METHOD, WE SHOULD BASE THE LEARNING ON THE STUDENTS’
ABILITY TO COMBINE THE KNOWLEDGE IN JUST THE ONE PROJECT,
3. TRADITIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS REQUIRE MOVING FROM ONE LESSON TO
ANOTHER. BUT CHILDREN SHOULD LINK PREVIOUSLY STUDIED THINGS WITH NEW.
THERE SHOULD BE SOME TIME FOR LINKING THE PREVIOUS STUDIED EXPERIENCE
AND KNOWLEDGE WITH THE INFORMATION STUDIED ON NEW LESSONS.
4. PROBLEM-TO-SOLUTION — THIS METHOD HELPS TO FIND THE OPTIMAL SOLUTION
AFTER FORMULATING THE PROBLEM. CHILDREN SHOULD IDENTIFY THE PARTICULAR
PROBLEM AND THEN SELECT THE MOST SUITABLE SOLUTION;
5. SOLUTION-TO-PROBLEM — ACCORDING TO THIS METHOD, CHILDREN SHOULD
SEEK A SOLUTION TO THE NONEXISTENT PROBLEM.
Q-3 PRIVATISATION OF EDUCATION , IS IT GOOD OR BAD ?

THE DEMAND FOR HIGHER EDUCATION IN INDIA, THERE IS AN

ESTABLISHMENT OF PRIVATE COLLEGES, AUTONOMOUS COLLEGES DEEMED
UNIVERSITIES AND PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES. IT ALSO INCREASED THE GAP
BETWEEN DEMAND AND SUPPLY OF HIGHER EDUCATION. BECAUSE OF THIS,
THE PRIVATIZATION OF EDUCATION HAS BEEN GROWING DAY BY DAY.
THROUGH PRIVATIZATION, THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION WILL BE GOOD
BECAUSE OF COMPETITION BETWEEN PRIVATE COLLEGES/SCHOOLS.
PRIVATIZATION OF EDUCATION WILL BE GOOD IF THE FEE IS REASONABLE.
GOVERNMENT SHOULD CONTROL THE FEE IN PRIVATE SCHOOLS/COLLEGES.
SOME PARENTS ARE LOOKING FOR PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS AS THEY WILL
TAKE MUCH CARE OF THEIR CHILD REGARDING THE STUDY, SPORTS,
HEALTH, ETC. WHICH IS NOT POSSIBLE AT GOVT. SCHOOLS;
Media Session
Guidelines act as a major role in any conversion, whether social or political. Media session

is an act of presenting ourselves to the audience and the opponent in terms of providing
information and knowledge to everyone present in the session.

The session commenced with much hope and curiosity as the government opened the dais with
new information related to electric vehicles and wants to share the law before launch.

Law: Mandatory use of electric car/ vehicles to overcome pollution.

Criteria of discount given by government: 20% below the poverty line, 15% middle class and
12% rich.

Note: A car older than 6 or more years cannot be used.

As per the government, there were three officials to represent the law and the government.

1. Ministry of road and transport - Vicky Kumar

2. State ministry of road and transport - Pranjal Gupta

3. Assistant of the ministry of road and transport - Vaibhav Garg

From opposition we had

1. Head of the party - Tushar Yadav

2. Assistant head of the party - Shivam Varshney

The Assistant of ministry took a stand and induced that it is very beneficial for the witness from
the marbles and allowing them to burn and get yellow due to acid.

State minister told everyone that this lies in the initiative their party is talking to save
environment in the 5 years plan which could surely be bringing health and gains to the nation.
Ministry told everyone that this initiative is taken as on looking for the fuels from Indian oils

Corporation on petrol law and due which they are increasing the prices of petrol and diesel.
After talking about the law the government faced questions from the opposite side and the
audience. Head of the party "Is the government responsible for the increment of petrol prices due
to which mi9ddle and lower class had to suffer?"

Assistant Head asked, "Any collaboration with electricity Provider Company so far?"

The government replied, "Yes, all your doubts are clear till now we haven't done anything so far
but surely be doing whether it is collaboration price decrement most of your demands with be
fulfilled".

Reporter "How did IOC agree to the law as this will surely be bringing downfall in countries
wealth ".And then from the audience, a high pitched sound regard to farmer arrived saying “All
this would bring nothing just chaos to the farmers working for us daily and what you are giving
them losses and chaos in livelihood".

The government replied with care “We surely care for farmers and their service to the nation but
we also care for other things related to security and privacy but soon we will be looking after it.

The other regards to IOC agreed with some rules and regulation which would surely be
introduced to public later on."

Last but not the least, everything handed over to the speaker all after listening to the opposition,
reporters and audience speaker said ", It was declared that this law is quite useful But hoping for
middle and lower class it can't be issued as of requesting the rolling party look for the
amendment and change the following for the betterment of the nation."

CSR
Corporate Social
Responsibility
The term corporate social responsibility (CSR) refers to practices and policies
undertaken by corporations that are intended to have a positive influence on the
world. The key idea behind CSR is for corporations to pursue other pro-social
objectives, in addition to maximizing profits. Examples of common CSR objectives
include minimizing environmental externalities, promoting volunteerism among
company employees, and donating to charity.
Why did CSR start in India

On April 1, 2014, India became the first country to legally mandate corporate social
responsibility. The new rules in Section 135 of India's Companies Act make it
mandatory for companies of a certain turnover and profitability to spend two percent
of their average net profit for the past three years on CSR.

However, with the introduction of Section 135 in the Companies Act 2013, India
became the first country to have statutorily mandated CSR for specified companies.

It was explained that the objective of CSR is to share burden of the Government in
providing social services by companies having net worth/turnover/profit above a
threshold. Allowance of the same as business expenditure would result in subsidizing
the expenditure by one-third of the amount.

Life Of A
Business
Leader
WALT DISNEY
Founder- Walt Disney Company
WALT DISNEY
DECEMBER 5, 1901 – DECEMBER 15, 1966)

Walt Disney was an American motion

picture and television producer and
showman, famous as a pioneer of cartoon
films, including Mickey Mouse, and as the
creator of the amusement parks
Disneyland and Disney World.
Founder of Walt
Disney Company...
Opened on 17 July 1955

In the early 1950s, Walt Disney began designing a

huge amusement park to be built near Los Angeles.
He intended Disneyland to have educational as well
as amusement value and to entertain adults and their
children.
Walter Elias Disney was the fourth son of Elias

1 Disney, a peripatetic carpenter, farmer, and

building contractor, and his wife, Flora Call, who
had been a public school teacher.

Disney developed an early interest in drawing. He took

art classes as a boy and got a job as a commercial
2 illustrator at the age of 18. He moved to California in the
early 1920s and set up the Disney Brothers Studio with
his brother Roy.

The Walt Disney Company started in 1923 in the rear of a

small office occupied by Holly-Vermont Realty in Los
3 Angeles. It was there that Walt Disney, and his brother Roy,
produced a series of short live-action/animated films
collectively called the ALICE COMEDIES.
Why
Made Him
The
Business
Leader ?
Disney was now a Transformational leader in

every aspect: He showed idealized influence,

having earned the trust and admiration of his

staff; inspirational motivation where he was

able to motivate his staff to see and support

his vision for the company; intellectual

stimulation where his staff was driven to be

innovative and creative in their work. Disney

made it through the Great Depression and

World War II by dedicating much of his new

studio to producing health.

Walt is a role model because he is

a great guy who was a family man

and someone who never gave up

when things got tough. He

followed his dream even when

others didn't care. Walt created a

great amuzement park for all our

families and friends to enjoy.

series and two Special Achievement

Some Business
Strategy
BY WALT DISNEY
Product Development

75

Product development is The Walt Disney Company’s primary

intensive growth strategy. This strategy involves offering new
products in the company’s current or existing markets. For 50

example, the company releases new movies with corresponding

merchandise to generate more profits from its target customers
worldwide. This company analysis also sheds light on the 25

importance of Disney’s organizational structure, which provides

the organizational design to effectively manage product

development. Item 1 Item 2 Item 3 Item 4 Item 5 Item 6 Item 7
Market Penetration

75

The Walt Disney Company achieves growth partly through market

penetration. As a secondary intensive strategy, market penetration 50

enables growth by increasing sales of existing products in the company’s

current markets. For example, one of the corporation’s strategic
objectives is to use aggressive advertising to increase its revenues from 25

products released in the global entertainment industry. The business

strengths shown in the SWOT analysis of Disney contribute to success in

implementing this intensive growth strategy Item 1 Item 2 Item 3 Item 4 Item 5 Item 6 Item 7
Diversification

75

he Walt Disney Company uses diversification as a supporting

intensive strategy for business growth. Developing or acquiring new 50

businesses is the typical approach in this intensive growth strategy.

For example, through the establishment of the Disney Cruise Line,
the company grew by entering the cruise line market of the tourism 25

and hospitality industries. The differentiation generic strategy

develops the competitive advantage of new business operations
that use the company’s brand. 0

Market Development

75

Market development is an intensive growth strategy that is

less frequently used in The Walt Disney Company’s business. 50

In growing the business, this intensive strategy requires the

company to introduce its existing products to new markets or
market segments. For example, growth is achieved by 25

establishing operations in new markets, such as through a

new Disneyland amusement park to capture a regional
market. 0

"Passionate about Vision"
the more a vision can be expressed in a vivid, imaginative way, the more it will motivate people to
action in the present.

Walt Disney’s leadership style that today’s leaders should be emulating: the ability to effectively and
passionately communicate a vision.
S

"He must be Optimistic"

An enigmatic leader, he was feared as much as he was revered, and his leadership style
took on many forms throughout his long and often turbulent tenure. Throughout his
career, he navigated his companies and employees through the impact of the post-
World War I economic boom, the Great Depression and World War II.
Leadership
“Chase your dream, believe in yourself, go big or go home, and don’t lose sight of
what you are.” I would agree, these are all great bits of advice to develop and
enhance one’s personal leadership skills.
"Change impossible to
possible"
After years of eating beans and driving up his debts, Disney finally brought Mickey Mouse to life on film
starting in the late 1920s and earned his way back to the top of his industry. But it wasn't easy. Bankers
rejected the concept of his famous mouse over 300 times before one said yes.

“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.” – Walt Disney
