Learning vocabulary is an essential and vital

Introduction part of the language. Learning a new vocabulary word

entails more than just understanding its meaning. To
truly learn new English words, you must first
understand them and then be able to utilize them
effectively in speech and writing. When you acquire
English terms that are relevant to your daily life or
come from a subject that interests you, you are more
likely to remember them. Seeing and hearing several
repetitions of the terms within a topic or an
interesting context, such as a tale or a reading, is
a good way to learn English vocabulary.
Tadashi wanted to improve his vocabulary skills
to enhance his speaking ability so he continues to

Needs book classes twice a day. He said that although he

Analysis run out of words when expressing ideas.

The participant in the study was one of my
regular male students, Tadashi. He can choose a
variety of available learning materials in our

Methods system. He used Daily News Material, one of the

most popular materials, articles based on current
events. He uses Vocabulary material, which is a
powerful material to learn idioms, phrasal verbs,
and other useful vocabulary, and sometimes free
conversation to practice what he learned and apply
it when talking to any topics of his interest.

In the last part of every lesson, there are

questions about what is his opinion on a certain
topic . Tadashi constructs sentences if there are
errors I utilized chatbox and gave corrections.
As a Teacher in TESL, I have struggles in teaching different
kinds of students. I have to think quickly of what strategy I

Results and should use since I am dealing with students of different ages
from kids, teens, adults, and professionals. They used English
for study, travel, and work. I am challenged every time I teach

English Language. He booked my class 3 times a week if I am
available but if I am not he booked classes to other ESL

Vocabulary is the foundation of language.
In a nutshell, vocabulary is important because it’s the basis of
all language. It’s the raw building blocks that we can use to
express our thoughts and ideas, share information, understand

Conclusion
others and grow personal relationships. When you have a wider
vocabulary in your target language it also helps support all
four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
As Paul Nation (2015) noted in his paper on vocabulary learning:
“Vocabulary is not an end in itself. A rich vocabulary makes the
skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing easier to
perform.”

Learning a language step by step process. You can not master a

language overnight. The learning process depends on each
learner's determination. If the learner is willing to learn he
will absorb all the things that he has learned but if the
learner doesn't have an interest in learning there will be no
learning at all. Seeing the progress of my student every time we
have class makes me proud. It’s important for the ESL teacher
and student to dedicate a significant amount of time to
developing this core language skill.
Based on the results of the study, I recommend the
following for improving vocabulary:

Recommendations Always teach vocabulary in context.

Use the right timing for repetition
Use pictures and visuals whenever you can
Make the words memorable
Use Word Clusters or Webs
Use words in phrases or collocations
Practice out loud

I have been given him advice on how to improve

his vocabulary skills like reading a lot of
articles, watching English movies, listening to
English songs, watching tv shows(celebrity
interviewed by a host), English podcasts with any
topic and he can have a free conversation with any
topic to practice his skills.
