THE STUDENTS WILL BE PREPARED TO READ AND WRITE USING BASIC VOCABULARY THEY USE IN
THIS CAREER. 

REVIEW.

 Capital letters are used in the following situations:

1.- At the beginning of a sentence.


2.-With some nouns and adjectives, usually if a noun indicates a proper noun. Capitalize
the pronoun “I.”
3.- In the names of people, places, or related words.
4.- In the titles of books, films, organizations, etc.
5.- When we write the days of the week, we always use a capital letter at the start of the
word. The days of the week are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,
Saturday and Sunday.
6.- We use capital letters when writing the months of the year: January, February, March,
April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December.
7.- The names of the countries, their languages and the nationalities are written in capital
letters.

.- I am from Venezuela.. I am Venezuelan... I speak Spanish.

.- Brigitte is from France.. She is French… She speaks French.

.- Troy is from USA.. He is American… He speaks English.

.- You are from Japan.. You are Japanese... You speak Japanese.

.- She is from Brazil.. She is Brazilian.. She speaks Portuguese.

.- My English teacher is a nice woman.

.- My father has read a new German book.

We must use a period in the following situations_

1. At the end of a complete sentence that is a statement.


2. If the last item in the sentence is an abbreviation that ends in a period, do not
follow it with another period.
3. Question marks and exclamation points replace and eliminate periods at the end
of a sentence.

�Interrogative:          Are you an engineering student? 
 
Affirmative:    Yes, I am an engineering student.// Short aff.:Yes, Iam.  
 
Negative:        No, I am not an engineering student.// Short neg.: No, I am not. 
 
Interrogative:  Is your mother at home?  
Affirmative:    Yes, my mother is at home.// Yes, she is at home.// Yes, she is. 
Negative:        No, she isn´t at home. // No, she isn´t 
 
Present Progressive: Be (present) + ing.  
 
.- I am studying engineering at Santa María University. 
.- My father is working in a big Factory. 
.- Those engineers are building a new hospital in this city. 
 
Past Progressive: Be (past) +ing.  
 
.- I was reading a very interesting book. 
.- My English teacher was explaining new words. 
.- You were listening to the music last morning.
