FM22 Adboard Patch FAQ

Why are my video adboard’s black?

If the video adboard’s do not work it can be because your graphics card cannot cope
with the demand of 'HD' graphics, however, renaming the 'HD' folder to 'SD' tricks
the system into treating the same files as graphics which put a lower demand on
your system.

Also keep in mind that video adboard’s will also only display within FM22 if the match
graphics quality is set to at least high (Preferences -> Match -> Graphics Quality).

Please note if you play via gamepass video adboard’s will not work, this is due to the
way Microsoft encrypts files that are used via gamepass.
Why are my static adboard’s now showing as bands of colour?

This error occurs when FM cannot find the correct static ads, ensure the static ads
are the following location:

PC - Documents/Sports Interactive/football manager 2022/graphics/pictures/ads

MAC - Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports

Interactive/football manager 2022/graphics/pictures/ads

Also Ensure that the path (graphics/pictures/ads) contains only lowercase

characters.

Why are my static adboard’s only showing a Football Manager 2008 logo?

These adboard’s are loaded as a fall back when the game is unable to find the
required graphics, ensure the static ads are in the following location:

PC - Documents/Sports Interactive/football manager 2022/graphics/pictures/ads

MAC - Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports
Interactive/football manager 2022/graphics/pictures/ads

Also Ensure that the path (graphics/pictures/ads) contains only lowercase

characters.

If this fails to address the issue there might be an error in the xml file.

Why am I only seeing the FM generic ads?

The xml file may be in the wrong location, ensure that either the ‘clubs’ or ‘no clubs’
fm.xml file is in this location:

PC - Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2022\ads

MAC - Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports

Interactive/football manager 2022/ads

Why are there two different xml files?

As the folder names suggest one xml file contains club specific adboard’s and one
does not. This has been done as in previous patches people have complained that
they see clubs specific adboard’s in cup competitions. Due the way the xml file there
is no way around this using code. The only solution is the use of two files, the
pictures below demonstrate the difference in the xml files.
When using the ‘clubs’ fm.xml file and playing a game at a neutral venue why
do club ads show instead of competition ads?
It’s a bug within the game, the match engine treats all matches at a neutral venue as
a home/away game. to combat this, you can switch to the ‘no clubs’ fm.xml file.

Why are there no folders for xxx?

Any adboard’s that are used for more than 1 club or competition are placed in a
‘Generic’ folder therefore, clubs do not necessarily need to have their own folder to
have adboard’s assigned to them.

Why am I seeing random video ads?

Sports Interactive make advertising revenue through introducing new video ads into
the game through Bidstack, to disable these adds ensure that the Bidstack fix (see
installation instructions) has been applied.

Can I turn off video adboard’s for specific clubs, leaving static ones in their
place?
Unfortunately, while SI have given us the function to turn on video ads for any club,
they have neglected to give us the function to turn them off, therefore, video
adboard’s cannot be turned off.
