Observation Notes
- At 8:37 am, the teacher started greeting the class and asked one student to lead the
prayer. Then, the teacher ensured the attendance of the class by encouraging them to
turn on their cameras and type "present" on the chatbox.
- At exactly 8:40 am, the teacher did a quick recapitulation of their lesson and activity
last session.
- From 8:43 am to 9:10 am, finish the presentation of the 4 groups regarding the
summary and reflection of the literary material given by the teacher.
- After the presentation of each group, the teacher established clearer and deeper
explanations based on the presentation of the students. Afterward, the teacher gave
positive feedback to each presenter.
- 8:49 am, 8:53 am, and 9:12 am, are the times when the teacher encouraged everyone
to remain their cameras on for the entire session in order to ensure the participation of
the students. There are students who encountered fluctuation in their connection and
some students are unable to turn on their cameras.
- The teacher elevated the discussion by providing thought-provoking questions and by
doing his best to relate the text on the part of the students.
- The teacher also uses the code-mixing and code-switching method whenever the
teacher raises questions and provides further insights to the students with regards to the
texts presented. The teacher also inserted a bit of humor to enhance the energy level of
the students.
- When one student honestly said that he doesn’t really know the answer, the teacher
allow other students to help him answer the question.
- From 8:56 am to 9:05 am, are the periods of question and answer. The teacher
encourages the students to speak out their thoughts by randomly calling out the
students’ names. Also, the teacher seized the opportunity in providing relevant trivia
related to their learning area.
- At 9:12 am, the teacher generalized the discussion and asked the students if they have
learned from the overall activity.
- At 9:21 am, the teacher encourages the students to raise their questions. Afterward,
the teacher provided the instruction to finish the following activity in MyClass.
- At 9:24 am, end the session with prayer.
- After the students left the meeting room, one student remained to tell her reason as to
why she cannot turn on her camera for the entire session. The teacher assisted the
student and understood her situation.
- For the overall learning environment, the teacher established a positive class
atmosphere for students to feel engaged and motivated.

Reflection Notes
PPST Focus: Domain 2 Learning Environment (Management of classroom
structure and activities, Support for learner participation, Management of
learner behavior)

1. Management of classroom structure and activities

- The teacher organizes the structure starting with prayer, checking of attendance,
recapitulation, group presentations, feedback, question and answer, generalization,
assessment, and ends with closing prayer.
- The teacher made sure that the students are aware of the sequence of presenters.
During group presentations, the teacher encourages other students to listen and
participate in discussions.
- The teacher provided clear instruction and proper cues to the student to start their
presentation. In terms of other activities, the teacher provided them the remaining time
to finish them in their myClass.

2. Support for learner participation

- At the end of the presentations, the teacher allows the student to share their thoughts
and opinions related to the topic and the questions or scenarios raised by the teacher.
- When the teacher is sharing significant ideas, the teacher will spark the students'
curiosity in order to keep them focused on the discussion. Before revealing the answer,
the teacher would ask the students first to see how wide their knowledge with regards
to the topic being presented.
- The teacher allows the student to speak whenever they raise their hand or encourage
them to share their response on the chatbox.
- The teacher also calls someone randomly and when the student doesn’t know the
answer, the teacher will ask other students to help and share their answers.
3. Management of learner behavior
- It is uplifting to see the teacher asserting his authority over his learners’ behavior. He
is making sure that students are paying attention, particularly when other groups are
presenting.
- When the teacher notices that some are not turning off their cameras, he will remind
them that he will appreciate it if he could see the faces of his students during the entire
session. It is also good that the learners’ are aware as to why the teacher is requiring
them to turn on their cameras.
- There are challenges encountered by the students is connectivity issues and technical
problems or difficulties. There is one student who is unable to turn on her camera due
to a problem with her gadget. While the challenges encountered by the teacher are
when the students are asked to turn on their cameras, yet after a while they will turn it
off.

- When I saw the number of students (49) for this class, I wonder how the teacher will
manage the students’ behavior. I have noticed that the teacher is knowledgeable
enough with the skills and approach in monitoring his students effectively such as
always reminding them to turn on their cameras and caring enough to understand some
of the students’ problems in which they have no control.
- The characteristics of the teacher that drew my attention is being excellent in
establishing a student-centered learning environment where he allows the student to
think for themselves, construct their own ideas, and relate themselves to the topic
presented. Another is when the teacher is inserting some humor and provides
additional information. Lastly, the teacher is compassionate and the students feel at
ease since they can openly discuss their difficulties or problems with their teacher
during the session.
- What I have learned from this observation, being prepared and managing time
tactfully are key factors to being a better classroom manager. Preparation entails not
only in the mastery of the lesson but also being aware with the students' needs and able
to solve problems immediately.
- What made this observation meaningful to me is that I am able to see the different
types of learners and how to deal with unforeseen situations. Overall, this observation
gave me a prospect of what being a teacher and a student is at the same time.

Reaction Notes
Teaching literature widens the perspective of students about the world they live in.
Through analyzing values in literary materials, teachers are enabling students to
establish ideal attitudes towards them. To help students build stronger values and
upright reasoning, it is essential that a teacher is knowledgeable with the methods and
various learning theories. In research from McLeod (2020), Jean Piaget’s theory of
cognitive development facilitates students to actively acquire new knowledge,
elaborating on current knowledge, and modifying previously held notions to
incorporate new information. This is possible by asking students thought-provoking
questions, allowing them to reflect on their experiences, express their own thoughts
and opinion, and explore how ideas are connected.
