As the issue about martial law still lingers until today, it came to my curiosity, if I try to

ask around with the elders who have been alive during those times, between that era and now

that we are battling the pandemic, which is the most challenging event to survive? Because every

time I try to collect and sympathize with the stories that transpires in the history books and

media, I can’t help but wonder how much they despised the former rulers onto why they let the

citizens suffered in such authoritarian officials in those times. There was actually a documentary

in testimony of the torture of Trining Herrera, an urban poor activist who kept on fighting for the

rights of the poor and searching on ways to help them. There were non-stop of demolition of

homes everywhere as he tried to recall the happenings, and I guess that is what broke him.

Because of his vulgar disagreeing of how the Martial Law goes, he was captured and was

tortured on his way to Vancouver. Part of it was being electrocuted, was interrogated for the

things they assumed she would admit. Was physically taken advantage of, there were multiple

events that occurred after and fortunately, there were those people kind enough in rescue and

release of her.

Just like what they always try to say, for every happening, there are reasons behind it. If

only there is a chip, we can preserve that saves the inner purpose of the former president, then

maybe even just a little we could understand what his wants may be for the people. But as long

as all the mysteries were hidden in the air, we will go on to debate and argue with each other, and

I believe it doesn’t make our surroundings any healthier. For as long as different point of views

exist, then I think there is no end in this discussion.
