7.0 WORK METHODOLOGY

i. The API pipe shall be lifted and placed on top of the rolling equipment
ii. The end of the 1st API pipe shall be slotted into the collar until halfway.
iii. The welding rod, set onto a holder, shall be placed at the joint between the collar and the API
pipe.
iv. The rolling equipment shall then start spinning at a very slow speed.
v. The joint area between the API Pipe and collar is heated 1 st all around to clean during the first
round of one full spin. The welding process shall than start at the collar and API pipe joint as the
pipe is spinned at a slow speed.
vi. Once the process of the 1 st API pipe joint is completed. The 2 nd joint shall be slotted into the other
half of the collar.
vii. Process iii) to v) is then repeated

Refer to attached photographs of the welding process as per Appendix 1.

SAND PAPERING OF PAINT & RUST

i) A sand paper cloth shall be placed around the API pipe and held in place as the pipe is spin ned
around on the rolling equipment.
ii) The sand papering part of the pipe is then brushed of the rust / paint using a brush. The process
is repeated for sections where the paint / rust is not fully cleared off.
iii) The 1st stage of sand papering shall be carried out throughout the length of the API pipe that is to
be embedded into the bored pile concrete.
iv) The 2nd stage of the sand papering of the pipe shall be carried out manually using the sand paper
cloth during the excavation stage before the rebar is installed for the columns and cast.

Refer to attached photographs of the sand papering of paint & rust as per Appendix 2.

8.0 INSPECTION AND TEST PLAN

a. The Client Representative shall be informed via RIN before proceeding with the work. The work
shall not proceed without approval from Client Representative. Contractor shall first inspect the
work completed by worker to its satisfactory prior request joint inspection from Client
Representative.

1. The workplace shall be efficiently protected against the detrimental effects of weather, for example, wind, rain, snow, and
draught.
2.The material surface in the joint area and welding consumables shall be free of rust or other oxides, paint, grease, scale,
remains from sandblasting, moisture, and other contaminants.
3. Traceability may be required e.g. for parent metal, welding consumables, welders/operators, documentation, and repairs.
Hard stamping should be avoided.
4.Weld finish shall be left as-welded unless specified.
5. Interpass temperature shall be check using a thermometer
6.Joint designs shown are not inclusive all those found on job or production. Weld joint shall per as design drawing or
specification. The design drawing shall take the precendence over the joint design shown in the WPS. Any joint design outside
this WPS shall be approved by an approved Engineer.
7. The material specification is only applicable to API 5L L450 only
8. The filler material is only applicable specified in the WPS. Any increase in filler size requires requalification.
9. The essential variable shall be as per AWS D1.1 as per Table 6. Any essential variable changes requiring WPS requalification.
10. An increase or decrease more than 10% in the amperage stated in this WPS for each diameter used required
requalification
11. An increase or decrease more than 5% in the voltage stated in this WPS for each diameter used required requalification
12. An increase or decrease more than 25% in the travel speed stated in this WPS required requalification. Travel speed ranges
for all sizes of fillet welds may be determined by the largest single pass fillet weld and the smallest multiple-pass fillet weld
qualification tests.
