SPEAKING
Teacher: Hi all. Please, pay attention, I have interesting news to tell you. Our school is organizing a trip to
some pagodas in Hanoi this Sunday. Each class can choose to go to Saint Giong temple or Co Loa citadel.
So, what you should do now is gather into 5 groups and discuss which place your groups want to go. After 5
minutes I will come back to hear your decision. The place with the highest votes will be our destination.
Okay?
Students: Yes Madam.
Teacher: Hey, have you made your final decision, groups?
Student: Yes, we have. We would prefer to go to Co Loa citadel because we will get the chance to see one
of the oldest citadels built by our ancestors. Besides, we are still unclear about the love story of Mi Chau
Trong Thuy. We hope to find our answer when we go there.
Student: We would love to go to Saint Giong temple. As you know, Giong festival is held on the 6th of
January in the lunar calendar. That is the exact day of our trip. So, there will be a lot of fun and
unforgettable experiences if we visit it.
Student: Our group has the same opinion with group 2. We also want to remind everybody that there is a
big bronze statue of Saint Giong newly built which is worth seeing.
Student: Well, after the discussion our group came to an agreement that we want to go to Saint Giong
temple. We are so eager to join some traditional activities on the day of Giong festival.
Teacher: It seems that we have the decision for the trip’s destination. And the last group, I still need to hear
your voice.
Student: We totally agree with most of our classmates. Going to Saint Giong is a great choice for us.
Teacher: Wonderful. Now, think about what things we should take with us. In order to have a memorable
trip, we must have a good plan, mustn’t we?
Student: You’re totally right. We think we should bring along enough mineral water and food for lunch for
everyone - and everybody, don’t forget to wear warm clothes and sport shoes because we may walk quite a
lot.
Student: We should also take incense, fresh fruits and flowers to make offerings to Saint Giong.
Student: Great idea. I will bring my new camera and we will have the best pictures there.
Teacher: Well done everybody. So be prepared for the trip
