COURSE EXAMINATION SCHEDULE
Midterm 1 December 09, 2021 Thursday 11:40-13:30*
Midterm 2 January 13, 2022 Thursday 11:40-11:30*
.* subject to the approval of the department

EXAMINATIONS
All the examinations given in this course are closed book and closed notes. These exams
will basically consist of problems and may contain short conceptual questions.

MAKE-UP EXAMINATIONS
Make-up exams may be given to those who have valid excuses that are approved by the
department. If you are eligible to take any of the make-up exams you must see the course
instructor within one week after the regular exam date. Do not get surprised to find
cooperatively harder questions in the make-up exams.

HOMEWORK
Homework is extremely important in this course and your serious efforts on them are
expected. They will provide some possible instructive means to understand the topics and
their applications in full depth while keeping you ready for the exam. Try to work on them
by yourself. If you need any leading hint, keep in mind that there is the course instructor
willing to help you. Homework sets will be distributed on the dates specified on the detailed
course outline but will not be collected.

QUIZZES
Eight announced quizzes, about ten minutes each, will be given on the specified dates, as
shown in the course outline. No make-up will be given for the quizzes. However, there will
be one extra quiz and the grades for the best eight quizzes will be used to evaluate the final
quiz grade.

EXPERIMENTS
There are two scheduled experiments about
(i) Flow Conditions in a Converging-Diverging Nozzle
(ii) Drag Measurement in Subsonic Wind Tunnel
and one laboratory demonstration about
(i) Shock Visualization in a Supersonic Wind Tunnel
in this course. Also, Ankara Wind Tunnel of TUBİTAK-SAGE will be visited. In order to
arrange the lab groups, you need to submit the related questionnaire until the end of the
second week (October 30, 2021, Friday). Everyone has to attend the lab sessions with their
own group.

ATTENDANCE
The attendance will be graded as follows:

Attendance Grade
90 - 100 5 percent
85 - 89 4 percent
80 - 84 3 percent
75 – 79 2 percent
70 – 74 1 percent
