1939-1945 (World War II), 1957 (Sputnik launch ignites U.S.-Soviet space race), 1968 (Martin
TEKS: Luther King Jr. assassination), 1969 (U.S. lands on the moon), 1991 (Cold War ends), 2001
(terrorist attacks on World Trade Center and the Pentagon), and 2008 (election of first black
president, Barack Obama).
Students will:
Know the cause and effects from different types of sources by reading and interpreting
from the past;

Analyze the textbook and online articles;
“Open up” the textbook and discover the contested and interpretive nature of historical

Students will create a paper chain where they loop together a cause and an effect
of the Great Depression. Both the causes and effects will be in a different colored
paper to be easily distinguished. Students will work in pairs of two to incorporate
key fundamentals from both the Textbook and Online article for a fun and artistic
concept to keep students actively engaged. Students must have 6 cause and Time:
