KARMA YOGA
Reflection Paper

I have learned that karma yoga is a way to God through work, by doing His
will. We all have duties in our lives, the idea of Karma yoga is performing our
duty, our work, and activities, we do it bcause it is our dharma (duty). Karma
yoga is the yoga of ‘action’ done without being attached to the outcome.
Acting without worrying about the fruits of one's deeds ultimately leads to the
union of self, which is the goal of yoga. Sometimes we do it unconciously like
when we help and serve others without the idea of getting something in
return.

We should do something for the welfare of others every day. We should

never let a day go by without serving or helping others. It could be a humble
act: donating goods and clothes to the victims of the typhoon, helping elderly
people cross the street, or praying for the welfare of those who are suffering.
Dramatic actions, or quiet, hidden ones, it doesn’t matter, as long as it is done
mindfully and without any personal expectations attached. I have also learned
that karma yoga’s most important principle is to act unselfishly, without
attachment, and with integrity, awareness and love. Karma Yoga combines the
qualities of efficiency, renunciation, equanimity, egolessness, and duty in one
action. It is not just what we do that matters, but how we do it.

While searching for other information about Karma Yoga I remember the
Golden rule, treat others the way you want to be treated. Much like Newton’s
law, with every action there is a equal or stronger reaction. This affects in all
levels of life, physical, mental, and spiritual. Karma Yoga is the path of service
for in this path, it is believed that your present situation is based on your past
actions. So by doing selfless service now, you are choosing a future that is free
from negativity and selfishness. Karma Yogis change their attitude towards the
good and in the process, change their souls, which leads to a change in their
destiny. I truly believe that we have purpose in our life, and that is to serve
our God and to help othes who’s in need. Helping a little is a big help for
others, when we help one person that person will also help another and so
on, its like a boomerang effect, and we should spread this boomerang effect
of helping. Apply Karma yoga to our life as well as the other yoga so that we
all make path to God
