Research Title:

The Disadvantages and Advantages of Online Learning during

this Pandemic to Students

Statement of the Problem:

Since the start of the pandemic many schools had been shut down and classes were

frozen. Students around the world struggle to maintain the improvement and level of

their learning and education. So here comes e-learning or online learning in which

students with the use of internet go to school called Virtual Classroom in which teachers

held virtual classes with the aid of many Apps like Google, Facebook and others.

Students need no more to go to schools since health protocols are observed to protect

them from the pandemic.

Technology seems very useful in our education but on the other side, it brought

negative effects to our students since as we all know before the new normal there are

many students who were already addicted to online games and wrong use of social

media.

This study will answer the following questions:

 What are the advantages of online learning?

 What are the advantages of online learning?

This study will also determine the disadvantages and advantages of this online learning

of our educational system to students.

Background of the Study:

The rise of the internet, alongside the worldwide availability and development of digital

communication services, has brought online learning technology to the attention of

established tertiary institutions, as they seek better and more effective ways of reaching

students and delivering educational content. Educational institutions are currently

equipped to provide distance learning opportunities through online classes for students.

The study in this thesis will conduct using a survey and semi-structured interviews to

identify the various facets of the advantages and disadvantages of online learning. The

use of semi-structured interviews has led to the development of understanding in

individual perceptions of the implementation of online modules. The possible results on

these study will help the readers or possible audience to identify the range of

advantages and disadvantages of online modes of learning. Since this research will

reflect the view of the generalized student community as well as the view of the

individual respondents.

Significance of the Study:

According to Gautam (2020), “The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered new ways of

learning.” This is really true for the rest of the years, nowadays, people were stuck at

home and everything relies on the Internet for educational purpose and school

personnel and teachers find ways on how to continue education while at home. This

study is important to help us know and assess the educational system and in what point

it needs improvement. And as with most teaching methods, online learning also has its

own set of positives and negatives. Decoding and understanding these positives and

negatives will help institutes in creating strategies for more efficient delivery of the

lessons, ensuring an uninterrupted learning journey for the students.
