Festival, the province of Kalinga
has repeatedly emphasized the
beauty and uniqueness of its
unspoiled culture. Since its
inception in 1995, the festival
has grown into a popular
community event that attracts a
rising number of tourists, both
Filipinos and foreigners.
The Ullalim Cultural Festival will
include the following
components this year, as it has in
past years: a cultural and float
parade; cultural displays;
indigenous sports and culinary
fest; street dancing; and an
indigenous choral competition.

locally-made fibers such as piña, abaca, and cotton.

The Pintados are tattooed indigenous people in the Visayas. The tattooing designs
and processes used by the Pintados differ, but the reason is the same to prove one's
courage. The male Pintados tattoo themselves from their ankles to the neck. The
symmetry in the design is evident especially the ones in the torso. The women
mostly tattoo the back of their hands with intricate and detailed designs such as
flowers.
