capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.
Pedagogy Planning

Complete the sentence below:

In this interactive white board activity, the children will touch the board to drag the
punctuation to the correct sentence and learn about the correct punctuation for
different types of sentences.

For example: In this interactive white board activity, the children will touch the board to
move and sort authors by time period and learn about literary genres.
Pedagogy

Activity 1. I will have students in groups, of about four at their


tables.
2. I will then have the “Punctuation Picking” activity on
the interactive white board for every student to see.
3. The teacher will stand up next to the board and read
the sentences without any punctuation.
4. After all the sentences from the one slide are read by
the teacher, they will call on one student.
5. The student will then come to the board and with the
pen point to the first sentence they are going to
punctuate.
6. They will then read the sentence out loud in front of
the class slowly.
7. The student will then pick which punctuation they
think is appropriate with that sentence.
8. After the student has dragged the correct punctuation
to the sentence we will vote as a class if we think the
student was correct or not.
9. We will go around the room to each student, so
everyone has a chance to drag the correct punctuation
to their sentence.
10. If the student was correct, they can choose which
student they want to go next, but it must be someone

who hasn’t done it yet.


11. If the student is wrong, they will try again with the
teachers help and reading it aloud again with
expression.
