LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 8

I. OBJECTIVES The learner demonstrates understanding of the

IV. PROCEDURE
A. Pre-Discussion Classroom Management
1. Daily Routine Prayer/Greetings
Checking of Attendance

2. Review The students will present and check their


answers in their assignment about Gerunds and
Infinitives. The teacher will ask about Gerunds
and Infinitives again to check students
understanding of the previous lesson.
Questions:
1. What is a gerund?
2. What is an infinitive?

3. Motivation Shapes will be presented on the board. Each


shape corresponds to some of the parts of
speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives and
prepositions). The students need to click (in the
power point presentation) the same number of
words depending on the sides of the shape. After
choosing the words, ask some students to create
sentences using these words. If they click the
wrong answer a prompt will appear telling them
that it is incorrect.

Legend:
Noun (Heptagon- 7 sides)

Verb (Hexagon- 6 sides)

Adjectives(Pentagon- 5 sides)

Preposition(Parallelogram- 4 sides)

B. During Discussion 1. A video about parallelism or parallel structure


will be shown and questions will follow.

2. Parallelism is defined as:


 The use of components in a sentence that
are grammatically the same; or similar in
their construction, sound, meaning, or
meter.
 Also known as parallel structures, uses the
same pattern of words to show that two or
more ideas have the same level of
importance.

3. Examples will be given to show and to


develop the concept about parallelism.
4. Post Discussion
1. Developing Mastery GAME OF COINS
5 representatives will be called from the room.
Each will be given 5 gold coins. Every time that
one gets to answer a question correctly he or she
will get the others’ coin. For them to answer
Whoever has the most number of coins wins the
game.

V. EVALUATION: ACTIVITY
There will be a five-item quiz for the class to
answer.

Students will be tasked to rewrite and make the


sentences parallel. They will write their answers
in their notebooks and check the answers
afterwards.

3. Shasta was always busy whether in class,
at work or home.
