Course title Campus Journalism

Course description This course promotes the development and growth of campus journalism as a means to strengthen ethical
values, encourage creative thinking and develop moral character and personal discipline among the
students. It encourages and train students on how to produce and manage a school paper. This is also a
practical course to students who are beginners in the journalism field and who want to improve their
journalistic skill.

1. Discuss the ethical standards of campus journalism and the extent of freedom of the press.
2. Describe the different sections of a school paper.
3. Compare the different news writing techniques and formats.

2. Recognize the role of the campus press as a “watchdog” and a fiscalizer.

C. Psychomotor (Skills)
1. Develop their journalistic skills.
2. Design a well-balanced publication.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
1. The students must install both zoom and schoology in their
mobile device (smartphone) or computer for online class.
2. Every students must create their own account on zoom
and schoology to access the different online courses.
3. Homeworks and other activities, online and/or offline,
Prelim Grade- 70% of the class standing + 30 % of the Preliminary Grade
must be completed or submitted on or before the said
deadline of submission. Midterm Grade- Preliminary Grade +2 (Tentative Midterm Grade)
4. If the students do not have internet connection to access 3
courses, the students must get a copy of the printed module Where: Tentative Midterm Grade= 70% of the class standing + 30% of the Midterm Grade
or hand-outs from the subject instructor. Final Grade- Midterm Grade +2 (Tentative Final Grade)
5. The students must be able to complete all the other 3
requirements to be able to pass the subject otherwise failed. Where: Tentative Final Grade= 70% of the class standing + 30% of the Final Grade
6. Make a school newspaper.
